Death of Former Employee
The Office of the President has been informed of the death of former staff member John ¡°Jack¡± Frumveller on 1/15/18. Jack
previously worked as an auto mechanic and journeyman vending staff in Physical Plant from 1976 until his retirement in
1994.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids. The family
will greet friends on hour prior to services at the church. You may read the full obituary, share a memory or express a
condolence here.

Upcoming RAD Course Announcement

The Rape Aggression Defense Program is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques. The Department of
Public Safety hosts these programs throughout the academic year. RAD is not a martial arts program.
The RAD System is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault, by
utilizing easy, effective self-defense tactics. This system of realistic defense will provide a woman with the knowledge to
make an educated decision about resistance.
Our courses are taught by Officer Nick Greenway and Detective Sergeant Tim Jacobs, who are certified RAD instructors.
The program is FREE and open to female students, faculty/staff, and community members. To ensure each participant is
given the best experience and training in this program, we limit the number of participants to 30. Should we receive a high
demand for the program, we may offer more classes this spring.
Class Information:
Dates: Saturday, February 10 and Sunday, February 11
Times: 9am - 3pm, both days
Location: West Commons, 1319 Cramer Circle, Big Rapids (FSU DPS Building)
Cost: FREE

On The Rise Showcase: LIVE MUSIC February 1st and 15th!
On The Rise Artist Showcase:
Live music series featuring Michigander// February 1st, Jake Kershaw// February 15th at Ferris State University Williams
Auditorium
Michigander (aka Jason Singer) is an indie rock act from the west side of Michigan that started in 2015. His debut single ¡°Nineties¡±
is in regular rotation on college radio stations around the country, and has been featured on official Spotify playlists including
¡°Indie All Stars¡± and ¡°Viral Hits¡±. Although live shows and recordings consist of a full band, Michigander at its core is a solo project.
Michigander has performed with such acts as Ra Ra Riot, Tokyo Police Club, Twin Peaks, and Boy & Bear.
Jake Kershaw is the 17-year-old guitar slinging, blues/rock singing teenager out of Southern Michigan everyone is talking about.
When not on stage or preparing for a show, Jake is a junior at Marshall High School. Jake maintains a 4.0 GPA which includes
honor classes and was inducted into the National Honor Society this past spring. Jake has performed with National touring acts
such as Jonny Lang, Anthony Gomes, Albert Cummings, and Walter Trout.
