Clean Up Your Hard Disk and Delete Junk Files etc

If you are running out of space on your computer your can follow this procedure which may free up some space for you. How much space it frees up depends on how much junk you have on your system. This is a standard Microsoft Utility programbuilt into Windows fromWindows XPonwards.

You do this in two stages - the first stage is to configure wat you want to cleanup (which only needs to be done once)

The second stage is to run the cleanup process (which may take a long time to run) and you can run this process as often as you like (I'd suggest once a week or once a month).

Stage 1: Configure the Cleanup

1. Hold down the WINDOWS key (bottomleft corner of your keyboard) and press the letter "R"

2. Enter

cleanmgr /sageset:1

3. Click on the OK button You will see a screen similar to this one

4. Make sure that ALL of the boxes are ticked 5. Click on the OK button Stage 2: Actually do the Cleanup 1. Hold down the WINDOWS key (bottomleft corner of your keyboard) and press the letter "R" 2. Enter

cleanmgr /sagerun:1

3. Click on the OK button You will see a screen similar to this one which may take some time to run (but you can continue to use your computer while it runs)
