Before You Start:

You will need to acquire a library card from Mentor Public Library.

Download Required Software:

Visit products/digitaleditions or search on Google for "Adobe Digital Editions." Download and install this free software on your PC or Mac. This is the software needed to transfer EPUB and PDF files onto your NOOK.

Activate Adobe Digital Editions:

After you have installed the software, you need to take steps to activate both the software and the device before transferring files.

1. Open Adobe Digital Editions. The "Setup Assistant" box is displayed. 2. Click "Continue." The "Authorize Computer" screen will pop up. 3. Enter your email address and password in the appropriate fields. THIS EMAIL ADDRESS AND PASSWORD

MUST EXACTLY MATCH THE ONES USED ON YOUR NOOK AND ACCOUNT. 4. Click the "Activate" button. 5. Click "Finish" to close the window.

Find and Download Library Books:

Go to . Click the Download eBooks icon on the left hand side of the webpage.

Browse or search our collection for the title you want. When you find a book you're interested in, click on it. If it is currently checked out to another patron, you can select "Request" to get on a waiting list. OverDrive (the eBook downloading service) will email you when the title becomes available.

If the book is available for check out, select "Add to My Digital Cart." Select either the Adobe EPUB or PDF format ? not the Kindle version.

Once you have added the book to your cart, you can then click "Proceed to Checkout."

Enter your library card number. Click "Confirm Checkout." Then click "Download." You may want to download the book to a memorable location, such as your desktop.

Once the book has finished downloading, "open" the book. The book should automatically open in Adobe Digital Editions.

Transfer Library Books to your Nook:

1. Connect your NOOK to the computer using the USB cable. Make sure the NOOK is turned on and awake. Also make sure the "USB MODE" window is displayed. The first time you do this, Adobe will ask you to "Authorize the Device."

2. Open Adobe Digital Editions. Click on the "Go to Library View" button in the top left corner. 3. Click and drag a book from the right side of the window to the left panel where the NOOK is listed. It will

be listed as either NOOK, MyNOOKcolor or MEDIA, directly beneath RECENTLY READ.

Your newly transferred books can be found in the My Library / Go to My Documents on the NOOK, or Library / My Files / Digital Editions on the NOOKcolor.

Return Library Books:

Open Adobe Digital Editions. Click on the "Go to Library View" button. Click once on the book you would like to return. In the upper left hand corner of the book, you will see a triangle. Click the triangle and a drop down menu will appear. Click the last item in the drop down menu, "Return Borrowed Item."
