COMP 100 INTEGRATION FINAL PROJECT (SOLO/GROUP)

SPRING 2020

PRESENT IN THE LAB

150 POINTS

The GROUP/SOLO INTEGRATION FINAL PROJECT employs your knowledge of INTERNET and the MS OFFICE 2016 Programs you have learned (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, No Access). Its purpose is for you to RESEARCH, ANALYZE, COLLABORATE, DOCUMENT and PRESENT.

Students are to complete a THREE Part Project:

1- A PowerPoint Presentation (At least 6-8 slides if SOLO & at least 12-15 Slides long if in GROUPS of 2

2- A Brochure (Double Sided) using MS-WORD

3- An Excel Spreadsheet & 2 Graphs (Groups of 2 must do 3 charts)

Pick a TOPIC out of the list of topics posted BELOW:

1. Cyberbullying – Its effect in our Lives (Signs, Symptoms, Prevention)

2. A History of Computers over the past 60 years (Time Line – From the beginning till NOW)

3. How will technology change our lives in the future (20 years)?

4. Internet Past/Future & Censorship - Does the Internet need Controls or Censorship? What Kind?

5. Social Media & Digital Gadgets effects on Society - How does social media, texting, cell phones and the Internet make the world bigger? Smaller? Good, Bad, Ugly (Facebook, Intragram, Twitter, Snapchat)

6. How to buy a home PC/Laptop? Under the Hood, Compare top 3 Models of either Tablets, Notebooks, Ultra books, Laptops)

7. Data Security & Privacy– How secure and private is our data?

8. What is Digital Ethics? Is it ethical to Download Music or do software Piracy?

9. Computers and our health - What are the long term effects of living in a technological world? Are these negative or positive?

10. How has social media helped solve and create problems in countries outside the U.S. like China or Africa or Middle East? Will governments like China continue to be able to control access to the Internet and social media among their citizens?

11. Cybercrime (ID Theft, Viruses, Hackers)

12. Computer Forensics

13. Smartphones (Components, Security, Apps, Apple v Samsung v Blackberry v MS v Google)

14. Best Search Engines (Google v Bing v Yahoo v DuckDuckGo v Google Scholar)

15. Understanding the parts of your PC (Under the Hood)

16. Sex and the internet (pornography, Obscenity, Freedom of Speech, Sex trafficking, Cyber sex)

17. Internet and Computer addiction (Signs, Support, Treatment)

18. Artificial Intelligence (Robotics, Self Driving cars, Etc.)

19. 3D Printing (Use in Industry, Health, Education)

Using various Internet Search engines, find as much as possible on your subject matter and save all the data (such as graphics, pictures, songs, maps, charts etc.) on your USB card.

POWER POINT TAKS: (50 Points)

Create 6-8 slides if Solo & 12-15 slides if Group of 2

1. The first slide is Title slide (Include your name(s), class and time and date

2. The last slide is Bibliography (Work Cited) in alphabetical order (Including where you found the information)

3. The Text slides must follow 7x7 Rule (Interesting Bullets & Indentations)

4. Make sure you have ClipArt Images, or Photos on some slides

5. Create Transition to new slides

6. Select and use an appropriate Theme (Attractive Background & Color)

7. Include at least One slide with a Table(Can be the same as the one you use in your Excel sheet) in it

8. Include at least one slide with a SmartArt in it

9. Include at least one slide with WordArt in it

10. Include at least one slide with a Shape in it

11. Include at least one Animation (More if you like)

12. Check Spelling

13. Include Audio (Could be Music) on First or Last Slide

14. May include a Video on one of the slides (Slide before last may be)

15. Make sure to include the CHARTS created in your Excel here

16. Insert Footer on Print on the Handout Page (Not on the slides): Include your name(s), Class time and date

17. PRINT 6 slides per page & Hand in

WORD TASKS (50 Points)

1- Create a Brochure on your subject matter. THREE COLUMNS per side, TWO sided Brochure. Employ text, pictures, different FONTS & COLORS to make an attractive Informative Brochure.

2- PRINT the One Page (Double Sided 3 Columns on each side) Brochure and Hand In (40 Points)

3- One Page Bibliography (Work Cited), PRINT & Hand In (10 Points)

EXCEL TASKS (50 Points)

1- Create an Excel sheet on your subject matter

2- Create 1-2 Graphs (Bar/Column or Pie Chart)

3- PRINT and Hand In Both Excel Sheet (One Page) & Graph (One Page) (50 Points).

4- Groups of 2-3 need to hand in 2-3 Graphs!

ON THE DAY OF PRESENTATION TO PROFESSOR:

Make sure the AUDIO works on your PowerPoint. You can use Sound effects (since you will be demonstrating the PP show on my computer in the lecture room, which has loud speakers).

You may also want to go for the Automatic Timer option on PP. Make sure you Rehearse well before the day of final, since timing is critical. (10 Extra Credit Points for a well-paced, well-rehearsed show!) Of course you can always use the left mouse key and do it manually.

What I am looking for is an interesting full content, high-quality use of MS-Office PowerPoint features. Keep your audience attracted and informed. Use the tools wisely! Be creative. Do not get over excited with special effects. Remember you will be presenting your slide show to your classmates, so keep it fun, educational and exciting (Always remember who your audience is!)
