WritingDictationToday’s focus is on handwriting. Using a sentence from yesterday (or any sentence you like!) read it out slowly for your child to write as you read. You will need to read it several times and take pauses so that they can concentrate on each word.Make sure that tall letters are taller than short letters!Make sure that there are spaces between words and all letters sit on the line.Finding it tricky?Practise each word separately. Ask an adult to write the words on paper and cut them up so that you can reorder the sentence before you copy it. Want a challenge?If you have not tried joined up writing then have a go today!Spot one letter that you find tricky or just doesn’t look right and give it some individual practise – then go back to sentence writing - can you write the letter properly now?MathsCan you say/write directions to places around your home? Choose a place that will always be the start such as the front door. Then pick a place like the place where you sit to eat or the bath or your bed. Try using the commands forwards, left and right to get there. Remember when you turn you must then give the instruction forwards before moving.Outdoor ChallengeIf possible go for a walk and take turns to spot different things. Topics to spot could be:Signs of springThings in order of rainbow colours.Insects or other creaturesDifferent shapesDescribe cloud shapesAll outdoor challenges will depend on your personal circumstances for getting outside. If you don’t have a garden then please use other spaces locally as long as it is safe to do so. Do not put yourselves at risk to complete these challenges!OnlineThere are some videos on You Tube that show how to draw cartoon characters. If you Google ‘How to draw a cartoon dolphin’ you should then get the right series of videos and you can make a choice of which one to try.Parents be prepared to pause the video so that your child can keep up.Parents please supervise finding the correct videos. ................
