So what exactly is a political cartoon? Well a political cartoon is an illustration or comic strip containing a political or social message that usually relates to current events or personalities. Political cartoons can be very diverse, but there is a certain established style among most of them. Most use visual symbols and caricatures that average people will recognize and understand to explain complicated political situations, and thus sum up a current event with a humorous or emotional picture. Their purpose is to bring across a message to people and try to make the people think the same way.

Your Job: Use what you have learned about the topic of Apartheid create political cartoon on the issue.

Your cartoons should make an argument either in support or opposition to the events depicted and use symbols to help convey meaning. Here are a few examples of symbols:
