We have seen that Canada’s immigration policy was discriminatory in the early parts of the 20th century. In 1967, the policy was changed and became non-discriminatory, meaning that it did not matter where you came from or what your ethnicity or religion was “color blind.” Everyone would have an equal chance to immigrate to Canada based on how many points they received on “points test”.
A new Immigration Act was created in 1976 and passed in 1978, which classified immigrants into three classes. Read page 204 – 205 and write down the changes below.
