Use the Find & Replace Strategy on Microsoft Word

Before you make changes, go under "FILE" and choose "SAVE AS." Give your document A NEW NAME, so that if disaster strikes, you still have your original.

1. On the strip that runs across the top of your word processing program, find the EDIT option.

2. Choose REPLACE.

3. In the FIND WHAT box, type one of the to be verbs.  Then, make sure you but a check mark in the "FIND WHOLE WORDS ONLY" option box

4. In the REPLACE WITH box, type the same to be verb you entered in the "Find what" box.  Then, in the "format" option (on the bottomn of the screen), choose HIGHLIGHT (make sure you've chosen a color in the highlight feature.)

5. Now press REPLACE ALL.

REPEAT this press for each  "to be" verb (see list above).

WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED THE ABOVE PROCEDURE, go back to your text. Look for the highlighted text. Revise the sentences for more active verbs.  Ask for help if you need it.
