Gas Law Project

Due: Monday, December 19th

Goal: Students will demonstrate knowledge/understanding of gas laws by applying their learning to real world applications.

PROJECT

Please choose ONE of the Gas Law Projects below. You will be given one class period to work on your gas law project. Begin by picking a partner. You will have time over shop week to meet with your partner should you need more time to complete the assignment. Please make sure you put your name and your partners name on the assignment. If you finish it during class, you can leave it on top of my file cabinet in the back of the classroom.

Project Option #1: Gas Law Comic Strip

Create a comic strip explaining one of the Gas Laws (Boyle’s, Charles’ or Gay Lusaac’s law). You may either draw your comic by hand or use an app to create your comic. I have included examples of comic strip templates for you to use attached to this packet. If you find a template you would like to use online, go for it! Please make sure that the comic strip has a minimum of 5 blocks.

The following information must be included in the Comic Strip:

_____Gas Law formula: ONLY CHOOSE ONE GAS LAW FOR THE COMIC STRIP. In this law what variables do you manipulate? What variables remain constant? What is the relationship between the variables discussed and what formula can we use to solve the problems?

_____Real world application: Why do we care about this law? How does it affect us and the human body or things that we use every day? What would happen if gases did not act in this way?

_____Example: Give relevant example(s) and applications of this law and how it can be applied to the real world.

_____Visual Aides: Create a dynamic and visually appealing comic strip or animation either by hand. Your pictures should be colored and be visually appealing.

Project Option #2: Gas Law Application Poster

Create a poster illustrating ALL THREE of the Gas Laws we learned this week (Boyle’s, Charles’, Gay Lusaac’s Law). The poster paper, colored pencils, and crayons are in the back of the room on the last row of student desks for you to use.

The following information must be included on the Poster:

_____Definitions of ALL Gas Laws covered (Boyle’s, Charles’, Gay Lusaac’s)

_____Gas Law formulas: YOU MUST DO ALL THREE GAS LAWS for the poster option. In this law what variables do you manipulate? What variables remain constant? What is the relationship between the variables discussed and what formula can we use to solve the problems?

_____Real world application: Why do we care about this law? How does it affect us and the human body or things that we use every day? What would happen if gases did not act in this way?

_____Examples: Give ATLEAST 2 relevant example(s) and applications of EACH law and how it can be applied to the real world.

_____Visual Aides: Create a dynamic and visually appealing poster by hand. Your pictures should be colored and be visually appealing.
