Make the paper-and-pencil word scramble into a hands-on game!
Materials: letter tiles and wooden racks from Scrabble game scrambled words from worksheet in Tutor's Handbook
Directions: ? Put the scrambled words onto the wooden racks exactly as they appear on the worksheet ? Allow children to physically move the letters around to unscramble the words
Lori: This made a big improvement! After completing half of the worksheet, the children were better able to mentally move the letters, and by the last words, they did not have to move the tiles at all. We are looking into ordering additional sets of Scrabble tiles or the fruit letter games in the Becker's School Supply catalog.
