Creating the Electronic Portfolio in Word
1. On the desktop of your computer, create a folder and title it with your name followed by “portfolio” EX: Loriportfolio.
Mac Users: Go to the file menu and choose File then New Folder. A new folder will be created on the desktop.
Window Users: Right click on the desktop and select New from the sub menu, then select Folder.)
2. Open your new folder and within in it, create another folder entitled “Artifacts.”
3. Download all of the artifacts you have (lesson plans, scanned items) and copy or drag all of your artifacts into the Artifacts folder.
4. Open the Portfolio template file from the website and open the template.
5. Go to the File menu in Word and choose Save as to rename the portfolio template file with Portfoliomaster.
6. Your nameportfolio file should have two components: your artifacts folder and your portfoliomaster. Check to make sure that your artifacts are files in your artifact folder.
7. Begin writing your narratives to correspond to each Standard.
8. Begin creating the links from your portfolio master to your artifacts (as instructed in the electronic guidebook file and in a file in the electronic portfolio packet). Save your work often!
9. Burn your portfolio to CD by following the burning process for the platform you are using (Mac or Windows).
