Kinmylies Primary - Early Learning and Childcare in Highland

Kinmylies Primary Early Learning & Childcare“Our school Is closed but we are still together.” ?329184016637000This has been our motto since our school & ELC closed due to Covid-19. At Kinmylies we wanted to continue to offer quality learning through our closed Nursery Facebook Page. The Early Years Practitioners have been working hard to create a wide range of engagement with our families. Our online opportunities include:* Makaton signing * French with Una the Unicorn puppet* Calm a Class mindfulness & meditation* Live Bookbug sessions* Links to daily tips from the Bumps to Bairns website Lots of activities are posted for our families to try at home if they wish and to interact with. Parents are encouraged to let us know which exciting opportunities their children have been participating in at home. Parents have been posting videos with their children engaged in obstacle courses, walks in nature, lockdown birthdays, singing songs, baking or simply to let the staff know they are missed. An interactive video was compiled by one of our staff who asked our families to send in pictures, some with a message. These pictures were collated and made into a video to the music “You’ve Got A Friend In Me”. The children and parents loved seeing the children from nursery and children were able to see their peers. We are currently working on a virtual sports event for the children to participate in and transition for N4s starting Primary 1. -3048012763500Online Bookbug SessionsOne of our practitioners is a Bookbug Leader and would normally deliver sessions as part of our Nursery day. During these unprecedented times we thought we would continue with the sessions via our Facebook page. These sessions last about half an hour and are based around songs, rhymes and a story. Offering the live sessions means our children can participate in real time and parents can leave comments on the video with their child’s song or rhyme requests. While libraries are closed this vital opportunity we can offer our children is incredibly important. 44805603746500Kinmylies Primary & ELC are delighted that children and their families can access an online Bookbug session five days per week between our very own sessions and via HLH libraries. We post links to other online Bookbug sessions within Highland and beyond:Bookbug sessions by High life Highland Libraries are being delivered via Dingwall community library Facebook page on Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 11am Facebook sessions by the Scottish book trust are at 10am on Fridays feedback on our Nursery Facebook Page has been fantasticHere are just a few comments from them:“Seeing a friendly face from my child’s teacher on the Facebook page has helped to keep us going ““Thank you - The bookbug session is so helpful as the kids are both equally interested and entertained, and they don’t realise they’re learning at the same time.”“Thanks again for all the continuous input and support”. ?? ................
