Using Blackboard’s Discussion Board

1. After logging in to Blackboard and accessing your course, click on the Communication in the Tools Box.

2. Click on the Discussion Board to enter the Discussion Board area for your course.

3. Select the Forum you wish to participate in.

4. Select the Discussion Thread.

Quick Summary

Once you have entered the Forum, click on the Discussion thread in which you wish to participate.  If others have already entered into the discussion, you may scroll through and review their responses. Now I will show you how to reply to a post

5. To post a reply to a thread, click on the Reply button.

6. Now you can enter your reply in the discussion box in the middle of the page. You may format the text in your reply using the tool bar located above the text area. When you are finished don’t forget to click Submit.

To reply to the thread topic, click the Reply button located next to the thread topic. To reply to a particular response, click the Reply button located in the discussion box at the bottom of the screen. Reply then click Submit.

7. Adding an Attachment to your discussion board is needed if your instructor wants you to send the assignment this way. To add an attachment, follow steps 1-6 first, and then click on the Attach a File link in the Attachments area at the bottom of your discussion board thread.

8. Browse to the file located on your desktop and select your file. Your file should appear in the Attach Local File field. After the file is attached, click Submit.

9. Your reply has been added to the discussion, along with the attachment.
