The steps are: - SURFCAM

Installing a SURFCAM Network License

The first step is done on the workstations only:

Install SURFCAM on each workstation that will be accessing SURFCAM. This will be a normal SURFCAM installation, with one difference: No separate SURFCAM dongles will be installed on the workstations.

Towards the end of the SURFCAM installation, you will have three options to place a SURFCAM icon on the desktop. Select the one for “network.”

If you do not choose 'network' at this point, the workstations will not search for the network service and will open SURFCAM in demo mode.

If this was not done correctly, then you'll need to go to the icon on the desktop, right click on it, then alter the Target to be: "…\surfcam.exe” -network

The next step is done on the server (host) machine:

To install the SURFCAM Network Manager on your chosen server machine, be sure that you have the most up-to-date version of the SURFCAM Network Manager available from Surfware. As of the SURFCAM 6 release, the most up-to-date version is the SURFCAM Network Manager 8.4.6. This version is available on your SURFCAM 6 disc or you can visit the SURFCAM website () for the most up-to-date version.

Note: SURFCAM does not need to be installed on the machine with the SURFCAM Network Manager.

To complete the SURFCAM Network Manager setup, you will also require a SURFCAM network SIM and license file from your SURFCAM reseller.

1. Begin by installing the “SurfcamNetworkLicenseInstaller8.4.6.msi” from your disc or after downloading it from the SURFCAM website

2. Once the installation has completed, open the email you received from your reseller and follow the instructions on how to install the license file installer. Alternatively, you can download the license file installer from the SURFCAM website. By double-clicking the setup.exe file you will be prompted to install the SIM drivers. It is important to have SIM drivers installed on the chosen server machine

3. You may be prompted to reboot the machine after these steps. It is recommended that you do to ensure the network manager operates properly

4. After the machine has been rebooted, attach the network SIM and stop the service (from the Start menu—see example below) and double click the license file you received from you reseller. This will start the license file installer which will allow you to install the license file

5. Once the license file is installed, restart the service from the start menu. Once the service is started, users should be able to check out seats from their SURFCAM workstations
