Write an argumentative response essay (4-5 pages-typed) on Bernardo Atxaga's The Lone Woman, , considering the Basque people, ETA and the effect of nationalism on Basque women’s lives. As you develop your thesis, consider this question: Is Irene a hero or a villain?

As you develop your thesis consider this question as well: How does The Lone Woman deal with the process of national and individual self-determination?
