EMPLOYEE REFERRAL SCHEME

1.0 Purpose and Scope

The Employee Referral Scheme Policy and Procedure provides an effective means of rewarding employees who refer friends, acquaintances and former co-workers who are subsequently employed by Parsons Brinckerhoff. The process ensures that the policy is consistently applied across the Company.

The Procedure applies to all permanent, fixed term contract and ad-hoc employees (hereafter referred to as employees in this document) working for a UK based Company.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES

The referring employee is responsible for ensuring that they submit the authorised Employee Referral Scheme Payment Application (HR-218/A) to their HRM to ensure the appropriate payment can be made.

HR is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate payment is made to the referring employee within the given timescales.

5.0 POLICY

5.1 Through the Employee Referral Scheme, employees are encouraged to make known to their friends, acquaintances and former co-workers the job opportunities available within Parsons Brinckerhoff.

5.2 Referring employees are eligible to receive an award of 5% of the target annual salary for the role’s grade (excluding allowances and bonuses), subject to a minimum payment of £1,000. Typical payments by grade (which are subject to review as and when required) are as follows:

5.3 The Scheme only applies to the recruitment of external candidates into permanent posts and not inter-Company transfers.

5.4 The award is subject to Income Tax and National Insurance deductions and payment will therefore be made through payroll upon completion of HR-218A.

5.5 All employees are eligible for the referral award with the exception of the following:

• Business Unit Directors and Managing Directors

• Human Resources staff

• those persons identified in accordance with PB’s Code of Ethics (CoE) statement who would influence the employment relationship, please read the CoE statement for more information.

In any cases where qualification for referral award is questioned, the Managing Director’s decision will be final.

6.0 PROCEDURE

6.1 The applicant should submit a letter of application, or an email accompanied by a Curriculum Vitae, or apply directly to the vacant positions advertised on In the application process the applicant should clearly state the name of the referring employee. If that is not possible, the referring employee should advise their HRM that a referral is being made to the Company.

6.2 If the applicant is subsequently hired, the Employee Referral Scheme Application (HR-218/A) should be completed by the referring employee within 1 month of the start date of the new hire, signed by their Group / Business Unit Manager and sent to the HRM. The business that benefits from the hire of the new individual will be cross charged the referral fee

6.3 Payment will be made one installment, 3 months after commencement of the referred employee’s employment.
