PHILIP MONTGOMERY IN THIRD SEASON LEADING TULSA FOOTBALL PROGRAM . . . ? Philip Montgomery is in his third season with a 17-12 overall head coaching

record with the Hurricane. ? Montgomery completed his second season in 2016 leading the Tulsa football

program to a 10-3 record. ? He became the 29th head coach in school history on Dec. 11, 2014. ? Montgomery claimed his first career head coaching victory in the 2015 Tulsa

season opener with a 47-44 overtime win over FAU. ? In his first year, Montgomery led Tulsa to six wins and to the 2015 Camping World

Independence Bowl. ? Montgomery is the fourth coach in school history to take his first two teams to a

Bowl game, and has coached 11 teams to bowl games in his 14 years as a coach. ? He became the fifth Tulsa head coach to lead his first team to a bowl game. ? Before coming to Tulsa, he spent seven years at Baylor, where he spent the final

three seasons as the offensive coordinator/QB coach. ? Under his guidance, Baylor led the nation in total offense and scoring offense in

Bowl team, following Oklahoma State, Louisiana and Toledo in the first 3 weeks. ? Tulsa is one of only five FBS programs to play all of its non-conference games in

2017 against teams that played in a bowl game last season. ? The others are Louisiana-Monroe, Oklahoma State, Rice and UCLA. ? Only three of the five teams (ULM, Rice, Tulsa) have four non-conference games,

while Oklahoma State and UCLA will play just three non-conference games. ? A total of nine Tulsa opponents this year made bowl appearances last season. ? Tulsa's 2017 opponents that made bowl appearances last year include: Oklahoma

BIG FIRST-HALF DEFENSIVE PLAYS BY SENIOR SUITS . . . ? Senior linebacker Craig Suits had his 4th career interception and his second return

for a touchdown at the 3:17 mark of the first quarter against Toledo when he picked off a Logan Woodside pass and raced 37 yards to put Tulsa ahead 21-7. ? Then at the 6:25 mark of the 2nd quarter, on a 4th-and-inches from the 41-yard line, Suits stopped Terry Swanson shy of the first down ... Tulsa's offense took possession at its own 42-yard line and five plays later scored for a 28-7 lead. ? Suits' first career interception return for a TD came in the 2015 regular season finale against Tulane with a 28-yard return that gave Tulsa the lead late in the game, a contest Tulsa needed to win to become bowl eligible.

100-YARD RUSHING FOR FRESHMAN BROOKS . . . ? True freshman Shamari Brooks became the 14th freshman (true or red-shirt) to gain

100 yards in a single game for the Golden Hurricane. ? Brooks gained 141 yards and 3 TDs on 18 carries against Toledo, which was the

third game of his career. ? His 100+ game was the 22nd time in school history that a freshman had rushed for

over 100 yards in a game, and the first time since 2015 when red-shirt freshman Ramadi Warren gained 139 yards against Cincinnati. ? Brooks' 141 rushing yards is the 9th best freshman rushing performance in school history.

In three games, President has completed 44-of-75 passes for 546 yards and has rushed for 214 yards, a 7.6 average and 4 TDs. ? In his first game as the starter, President completed 18-of-35 passes for 178 yards, and ran for another 69 yards on eight carries. ? rushing chart with his 262-yard rushing performance against Louisiana in the second game of the season. ? He came into that game with 2,433 career rushing yards and ended with 2,695 career yards. ? A week later, he had 152 rushing yards vs. Toledo, but did not make a move up the all-time list of rushers. ? Brewer now has 2,847 career yards and 18 touchdowns on 563 carries. ? Brewer is now 668 yards away from moving up any further on the career rushing list ... Trey Watts (2010-13) is in third place with 3,515 yards.

twice in a career, and it was just the 23rd time overall that Tulsa has had a 200yard rusher. ? BREWER'S LONG RUNS . . . ? Of all the yards and big plays that D'Angelo Brewer has made in his career, his

first touchdown run this season was his longest run of his career when he raced 50 yards for his first touchdown of the season in the first quarter against Louisiana. ? Brewer bettered that run with a 60-yarder to the Louisiana 3-yard line in the final minute of the first half that led to Tulsa going ahead 38-23. ? His previous long run was 48 yards against Virginia Tech in the 2016 Camping World Independence Bowl.

SOPHOMORE DEFENDERS . . . ? Two 2-year sophomores, safety Manny Bunch and linebacker Cooper Edmiston,

are in starting roles this year for the Hurricane after spending most of the 2016 season playing special teams. ? The duo is tied for the team-lead in tackles with 25 apiece, and each has one interception. ? They each turned in their career-highs for tackles and each had their first career interceptions against Louisiana ... Bunch had 13 stops to lead the Hurricane, while Edmiston was one back with 12 tackles. ? Edmiston followed up that game with a 10-tackle performance at Toledo.

600+ AND 400+ . . . ? Tulsa totaled 667 total yards on 92 plays against Louisiana for the most yards in

the Philip Montgomery era. ? It marked the seventh time in the last three seasons that Tulsa has gone over

600 yards in total offense. ? It's also the 18th game in which Tulsa has gone over 500 yards in the

Montgomery era. ? The Hurricane gained 424 yards rushing on 72 carries against Louisiana, which

was the most rushing yards for Tulsa since gaining 439 yards against Ball State in the GMAC Bowl at the end of the 2008 season. ? Tulsa put together its second straight 400+ rushing game with 423 yards on 68 carries at Toledo.

was in the right place at the right time against Oklahoma State. ? Higuera scored Tulsa's first touchdown of the 2017 season when he jumped on

a fumble by OSU punt returner Jalen McCleskey in the end zone. ? Another newcomer, punter Thomas Bennett, forced the ball over McCleskey's

head with a 60-yard punt. ? Senior CJ Gooden knocked the ball out of McCleskey's hands as Higuera

pounced on it. ? The fumbled punt for a TD marked the second straight year that the Hurricane

had a fumble punt return for a TD in the season opener, as the same happened in 2016 against San Jose State.

NICE DEBUT . . . ? Sophomore transfer Thomas Bennett punted for the first time in his collegiate

career and turned in a performance where he averaged 44.6 yards on seven punts against Oklahoma State. ? His fourth punt of the game sailed 60 yards and over the head of the OSU punt returner, who eventually grabbed the ball but was forced into a fumble that Tulsa recovered in the end zone for its first points of the game. ?
