1. Open up Dreamweaver and load your template page from your OCR website folder.

2. Insert a table to hold your banner and your navigation buttons

3. You will need to merge the cells in the top row of your table so that you can fit your banner in. The next screenshot shows you how to do this

4. Insert your banner and navigation buttons

5. Creating your other web pages. You are going to use your template to create your other web pages. This just means saving the template 5 times with different filenames. Look at the instructions below carefully and notice that you have to change the file extension to .html (this is very important).

6. Now start adding content to your web pages, starting with your home page. You must have some text and at least one image on each page (in addition to your banner and navigation buttons). You can copy the text from other sources or you can write your own.

Click to open your template page

Choose 2 rows

Choose 5 columns

Table width should be set at 95% - this means that you web page automatically adjusts to the width of the browser

Set border thickness to 0 – this means you will not be able to see the outline of the table when viewed in a browser

Highlight the top row of the table – then right-click in the top row go to table – Merge Cells.

It will now look like below

Browse to your UNIT 2 images file to find your banner

Insert your banner into the top row and your buttons into the individual cells underneath

Make sure you SAVE your template page – BUT DO NOT CLOSE IT.

Open your template page and use it to create the five pages of your web site. Every page should be saved as a HTML document

Give the page a filename – this should be the title of the page

Make sure that you select the HTML Documents as the “Save as Type”.

NOW ADD CONTENT TO ALL YOUR OTHER PAGES

* The FEEDBACK PAGE has a separate worksheet (Task 5)

Add the rest of your content to your home page. Leave your hyperlinks to later when all the content is on
