Guidelines for preparing a “portfolio” for this Prior Learning Assessment will be provided by the Penn State HDFS department.~$400 fee for portfolio review to earn up to 6 academic unitsIndividuals may submit a portfolio at any time during their program of study; however, individuals planning to request credit this way should communicate this to the department and academic advisors early, as this will be important for academic planning purposes.Up to 6 academic credits For AS in HDFS (2EHFS):Up to 6 credits will be applied to the “supporting courses/University-wide offerings” audit categoryFor BS in HDFS (HDFS):Here, up to 6 credits can be applied in several different ways:6 credits to reduce capstone internship requirement from 9 to 3 credits (120 hours)6 credits to satisfy “6 credits of HDFS at the 300/400 level” requirement6 credits towards lower level “supporting courses/University-wide offerings” -or- students can split credits across any of the categories listed aboveHDFS and BKC are creating an option for students to earn an additional 3 academic credits through a combination of completing BKC modules and a related portfolio. This will cost an additional $400 for portfolio review to earn 3 academic credits. Details about this additional 3-credit option will be available in 2018. Once this is in place, the HDFS/BKC collaboration will include the potential to earn up to 12 academic credits towards a Penn State HDFS degree at a reduced cost while completing professional development and working towards the CDA credential. ................
