Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performanceJob Family and Level:Administrative, Professional & Managerial Level 4Contract Status: Fixed-term available from 1 April 2016 until 30 September 2017Hours of Work:Part time, 21.75 hours per weekLocation:Faculty of Engineering, University Park Campus, NottinghamReporting to:Professor Sarah Sharples, PI IMPETUS Transport Systems Catapult University PartnershipPurpose of the Role:The Project Manager will have the remit of coordinating the activities delivered within the IMPETUS University Partnership between the Universities of Nottingham and Leicester, with the Transport Systems Catapult (TSC). Within this capacity the role-holder will provide direction and management to ensure the projects under their remit deliver in line with funding, external collaborators and internal university objectives. As project manager, the role-holder will be responsible for day-to-day operational management of their projects and the successful delivery of contracted outputs. The task will necessitate co-ordinating and managing the efforts of staff involved in all aspects of project delivery. In particular the individual appointed will be expected to liaise with University colleagues as part of the ‘smart campus’ initiative, which aims to develop the Nottingham campuses as test beds for future technologies to support Intelligent Mobility. They will also contribute to some aspects of the activities delivered as part of the partnership.The Project Manager will be responsible for identifying appropriate opportunities for new projects and knowledge transfer activities that emerge. Main Responsibilities % time per year1Project management (portfolio)Proactively work with the IMPETUS management team and TSC stakeholders to agree the scope and shape of projects under the jurisdiction of the role-holder. Provide management and leadership including management of the project team, co-ordination and activity management through to successful delivery and closure of projects. This will include management of all aspects of the project lifecycle. Tasks will include the following:Working in conjunction with the IMPETUS management team and TSC coordinator(s) to facilitate the definition of new projects within the portfolioPlanning, and delivering the portfolio of projects, including project plans, resource and quality management, employing appropriate methodologies and project tools Clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of the project teams, ensuring all parties are fully briefed on their responsibilitiesMonitoring and reporting (internal and external)Budgetary managementRisk and issue managementManaging project closure35%2Project deliveryProactively work with the IMPETUS management board and stakeholders to agree the scope and shape of the projects and support delivery of projects. Provide project leadership including management of the project team, co-ordination and activity management to successful delivery.
