Greeting of One Another in Grace & Peace

Entering His Presence

*Call to Worship:

Isaiah 52:7-10

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!" Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the LORD returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes. Burst into songs of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem, for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem. The LORD will lay bare his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.

For You Are Holy

Zach Jones

O God, there's none like You In all the earth, in all the earth. O God, who can compare to You, to You?

Only You have no beginning, only You could make the skies. Only You are truth unending, only You are always wise. Lord, there is none like You.

For You are holy, You are holy. For You are holy, Lord You are holy.

O God, there's none like You In all the earth, in all the earth. O God, who can compare to You, to You?

(Women echo)

Only You are never sinning, only You have never lied. Only You cannot be tempted, only You can never die.

Lord, there is none like You.

Be Thou My Vision

Mary E. Byrne, Hymn #642

Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; Naught be all else to me, save that thou art; Thou my best thought by day or by night, Waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.

Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word; I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord; Thou my great Father, I thy true son; Thou in me dwelling, and I with thee one.

Be thou my battle shield, sword for my fight; Be thou my dignity, thou my delight, Thou my soul's shelter, thou my high tow'r; Raise thou me heav'nward, O Pow'r of my pow'r.

Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise, Thou mine inheritance, now and always; Thou and thou only, first in my heart, High King of heaven, my treasure thou art.

Sunday, May 6th, 2012

High King of heaven, my victory won, May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heav'n's Sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

Ancient Words

Lynn DeShazo

Holy words long pre-served for our walk in this world; They resound with God's own heart, O let the ancient words impart.

Words of life, words of hope, Give us strength help us cope. In this world where'er we roam, Ancient words will guide us home.

Ancient words ever true, changing me and changing you. We have come with open hearts, O let the ancient words impart.

Holy words of our faith handed down to this age. Came to us through sacrifice, O heed the faithful words of Christ.

Holy words long preserved for our walk in this world. They resound with God's own heart, O let the ancient words impart.

Prayer of Confession

from Valley of Vision

Blessed Lord Jesus, before your Cross we kneel and see the wickedness of our sin, our iniquity that caused you to be made a curse, the evil that excites the severity of divine wrath. Show us the enormity of our guilt by the crown of thorns, the pierced hands and feet, the bruised body. Your blood is the blood of incarnate God, its worth infinite, its value beyond all thought. Infinite must be the evil and guilt that demands such a price. Sin is our foe, born in our birth, alive in our life, strong in our character, intermingling with our every thought, our chain which holds us captive. Sinners that we are, why should the sun give us light? Yet your compassions overwhelm us, your heart hastens to our rescue, your love endured our curse, your mercy bore our deserved stripes. Let us, O Lord, walk in humiliation, bathed in your blood, triumphing gloriously as heirs of salvation. Amen.

Assurance of Pardoning Grace

1 Timothy 1:15

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

Man of Sorrows! What a Name

Philip P. Bliss, Hymn #246

Man of Sorrows! What a name for the Son of God, who came Ruined sinners to reclaim: Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Bearing shame and scoffing rude, in my place condemned he stood, Sealed my pardon with his blood: Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Guilty, vile, and helpless, we; spotless Lamb of God was he; Full atonement! Can it be? Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Lifted up was he to die, "It is finished!" was his cry; Now in heav'n exalted high: Hallelujah! What a Savior!

When he comes, our glorious King, all his ransomed home to bring, Then anew this song we'll sing: Hallelujah! What a Savior!

*Closing Song

In Christ Alone

Stuart Townsend/Keith Getty

In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength my song; This Cornerstone, this solid ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm.

What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease. My Comforter, my All in all, here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, who took on flesh, fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, scorned by the ones He came to save.

'Till on the cross as Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied. For ev'ry sin on Him was laid; here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world, by darkness slain; Then, bursting forth in glorious day, up from the grave He rose again!

And as He stands in victory, sin's curse has lost its grip on me; For I am His and He is mine, bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death, this is the pow'r of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man can ever pluck me from His hand. 'Till He returns or calls me home, here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America, we affirm the "Solas" of the Protestant Reformation and are a Confessional church, meaning we use the historic creeds, especially the Westminster Confession of Faith as a guide for doctrinal belief.

Sola Scriptura:

Sola Fide:

Solus Christus: Sola Gratia: Soli Deo Gloria:

The Bible is the sole, written, divine revelation, our final rule for faith and practice, which alone can bind the conscience of believers absolutely.

Justification is by faith alone. The merit of Christ imputed to us by faith is the sole ground of our acceptance by God, by which our sins are remitted.

Christ is the only mediator through Whose work we are redeemed.

Our salvation rests solely on the work of God's grace for us.

To God alone belongs the glory.

Do you wonder what our logo represents? It is a picture of a seed in the beginning stages of bearing fruit. This is one of the metaphors used in Scripture to describe Christians. God plants the seed of His Word into our hearts and then we bear fruit as the Spirit works within us. It should remind us of the sovereignty of God in our salvation and of the role of the church to water and nurture the seed He has planted in His people.
