November 2017

Nicole Smith, CPCU Chapter President Auto-Owners Insurance

I was recently in a meeting and asked to reflect upon the year. Seeing as how we are now into November and approaching the end of the year and preparing for yet another exciting year to begin, I started to ponder the question.

"Thankful" is what I would say to describe my year.

I am thankful to be a part of such a great group of people. The level of commitment demonstrated and brought forth by our leadership board has been both a blessing and a pleasure. To have had the opportunity to work with these great individuals has far exceeded any expectations I had and in what we were able to accomplish. For that I am thankful.

I am also thankful for friends and family. To have them there for both encouragement and reality checks, they allow me to reach my goals and to keep achieving all that is possible. Everyone needs a support system ? whether it is a small or large group of friends, family, or coworkers. For mine, I am thankful!

I am thankful for our chapter. Our continued efforts to achieve Gold in our Circle of Excellence, growth, and continuing education make our large chapter such a success. The new relationships, networking opportunities, mentoring, and reaching out when a member needs assistance is only a fraction of what I have witnessed over the last year. For this, I am thankful for our chapter!

As we enter our holiday season, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect upon the year. What has happened in your own life? Who are you thankful for? Be sure to let them know.

I look forward to seeing you all at the November 17 luncheon.

Chapter Leaders Select Hannah's House for Good Works Project

The Mid-Michigan CPCU Society chapter has chosen Hannah's House to receive our annual December charitable donation! Thank you to Good Works Chair Cory Krause, who researched local charitable service organizations.

Hannah's House in Lansing goes far beyond providing homeless, expectant mothers with food and shelter. It also provides them an opportunity to gain the emotional, physical and spiritual strength to raise children in a loving, supportive and positive way, or to follow an adoption plan if they so choose.

Women live free of charge at Hannah's House through pregnancy and up to six months following the birth of their baby. They leave with a promising new life ahead of them. The goal is that every mother who leaves Hannah's House has a home, as well as the parenting and life skills necessary to be a contributing member of the community.

Please join us Dec. 20 to learn more about Hannah's House and to participate in our charitable donation.
