LIVING GRACE HANDOUT #3

1. It's Important In These Last Days We Understand The Grace Of God,

A John 1:16-17 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. 17

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

B. The law was given through a servant; grace and truth came through the Son.

C. The law talks about what man ought to be; grace reveals who God is. The

letter kills, but the Spirit gives life

D. 2

Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament; not

of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

E. Under the law, God demands righteousness from sinfully bankrupt man. But

under Grace, God provides righteousness as a gift.

F. All

who believe in Jesus and acknowledge Him as their Lord and Savior are under

the new covenant of Grace.

G. JOHN 1:16 For

out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we

were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon

spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift.(AMPC)

H. Our Walk With Jesus Brings Many Expressions And Experiences Of Grace In

Our Lives.

I.

COLOSSIANS 2:10 So you also are complete through your union with Christ,

who is the head over every ruler and authority (NLT)

J. Even though

you are complete through your union with Christ. God's Grace comes to us in a

progression of gracious experience with HIM.

K. We can understand this by considering marriage. As a couple who are

married God intended as they grow through the years together and work thru

life's challenges, they get to know each other more and more and they have

additional opportunities to support and show kindness, patience and

understanding to one another. They develop a warm and sweet fellowship.

L. However there are those who are married but instead of being good to one

another walls of offense, unforgiveness and bitterness are built, and they never

enjoy what God intended.

M. Even though

our union with Christ begins once we are born again the quality of our fellowship

with him can vary depending on how we interact with HIM. He offers us more

grace for every situation in our lives and urges us to draw upon His Love,

Empowerment, And Ability As We Encounter New Phases In Our Lives. BUT

What Is Key We Have To Receive It.

N. Romans 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more

they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall

reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

O. Romans 5:17 tells

us clearly that "those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of

righteousness will reign in life." When we reign in life, we reign over sin,

addictions, and all forms of evil.

P. We never earn Grace

but if we respond in a right way, we can enjoy more Grace and partake of it,

especially during times of need.

Q. Before you ever had a

financial need, God created the provision. Before you were sick, God, through

Grace, provided your healing (1 Peter. 2:24). Before you ever became

discouraged, God blessed you with all spiritual blessings (Ephesians. 1:3).

R. God anticipated every need you could ever have and has met those needs

through Jesus before you existed. THAT'S GRACE.

2. How Does A Believer Receive More Grace?

Let's look

at some responses to receive more grace in our lives! A. Romans 5:1-2

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord

Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we

stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

B. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of

yourselves: it is the gift of God:

C. It has

been said that Grace is Gods hand extended to us and faith is our trusting hand

put into HIS.

D. His Grace offers

Himself and His blessings and our Faith accepts, receives and lay hold of what

he has freely offered.

E. Grace & Faith are

never in opposition with each other rather they are interdependent upon each

other and always work together.

F. Grace Requires Faith for Gods

blessings to be received . God is a gentleman, and he will not force his blessings

upon us. Growing in grace is about relationship and intimacy with God. Faith is

our response

G. A believer's Faith is a gift from God and we have no business boasting about

anything including our faith.

H. Romans 12:3 For I

say, through the Grace Given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to

think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according

as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

I. God gave us a measure of Faith through which we embrace hid Grace first in

salvation and then throughout our Christian lives.

J. You have total access to Gods Grace through your Faith in Him. Like opening

a door gives you access in a room, exercising Your Faith in God gives you

access to His Grace.

K. We need both

Faith And Grace to enjoy Gods blessings. Grace is God granting the provision

while Faith enables man to access the provision.

3. The knowledge of GOD allows to receive more Grace.

A. 2 Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of

God, and of Jesus our Lord,

B. We can

grow in Grace through the knowing God and the Lord Jesus Christ

C. The Greek word for knowledge means full knowledge. This implies more than

knowing about God but knowing God in a personal and intimate way- a heart

experience.

D. The true

knowledge of God is tremendously important in our Christian lives.

E. Philippians 3:8- Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the

3|Page

excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered

the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,10 That I

may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his

sufferings, being made conformable unto his death

F. For Paul knowing Jesus was the desire of his heart and although Paul had an

amazing relationship with the lord, he was mindful that there was always more to

know about Him

G. Paul prayed for all

believers to know God intimately.

H. Ephesians 3:16-19 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will

empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his

home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's

love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all

God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.

19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand

fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that

comes from God.(NLT)

I. How do I

know God and grow in Grace? Today God reveals himself and imparts his Grace

through His Word and Holy Spirit

J. The message we

preach is called the Gospel of grace and the Word of His Grace.

K. Acts 20:24But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto

myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have

received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. Acts 20:32

And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is

able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are

sanctified.

L. The Holy

Spirit is called the Spirit of Grace-Hebrews 10:29 Of how much sorer

punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden underfoot

the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was

sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

M. Whenever we get into God's word and spend time in his presence we are

partaking of Grace. This also applies when in a corporate setting in our church

worship as well as spending time one on one with God in the word and worship.

N. All of this helps us to know him and the more you know him the more you will

enjoy and benefit from his grace.

4. Humility allows a believer to receive more Grace

A. James 4:6-8But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the

proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God.

Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw

nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double

minded.

1 Peter 5:5-6Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto

the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility:

for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble

yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due

4|Page

time:

B. While God

gives grace to the humble to the person who depends and relies upon him, He

resists the proud individual who arrogantly believe he can do it on his own

without Gods help. The prideful man says God I do not need you I can do it by

myself

C. The word resists is a Greek military

word that means to battle against.

D. God wants nothing more to bless you but when you are proud and arrogant

and independent you have declared war on him.

E. God is not

out to destroy you when you get puffed up in pride or deceived into arrogance

BUT he cannot bless nor encourage your proud self-destructive attitude or

behavior. It is sin and He must oppose it.

F. A prophet said God sends no one away empty except those who are full of

themselves.

G. You

must always remain aware of your need for God's presence and sustaining

grace. So long as you acknowledge your need for him you will continue to enjoy

and experience and benefit fro his grace growing inside you.

5. Boldness-Arrogance is pride based on self; Boldness is confidence based

on God!

A. Hebrews 4:14-16So

then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son

of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. 15 This High Priest of ours

understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he

did not sin. 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we

will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

(NLT)

B. What a

wonderful invitation and promise. We can come boldly to a Throne of Grace not

judgment.; criticism; fault-finding; Condemnation.

C. We would

receive Mercy and find His Grace when we need it the most

D. All of us face challenges in life that will make us realize our complete

dependency upon God. During those times he invites you to draw experience

and enjoy the Mercy And Grace He has for each one of us.

E. Proverbs 28:1 The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the

godly are as bold as lions.

F.

When you know God has cleansed you from all your sins and made you his child,

and is one hundred percent for you, that sparks boldness in your heart.

G. In acts 4 Peter & John were called on the carpet for preaching Jesus by

religious leaders. These were the same religious leaders who crucified Jesus.

Peter gave a powerful testimony of Jesus as the savior of the world and

concluded in Acts 4:12 There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other

name under heaven by which we must be saved." (NLT)

H. Look how the religious leaders reacted Acts 4:13 The members of the council

were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see

that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also

recognized them as men who had been with Jesus. (NLT)

5|Page

I. Peter and John were threatened again not to preach the gospel. But when they were released from their captives, they prayed. It was a time of danger and they with church members went boldly before Gods throne. Acts4: 23-30 J. Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. 33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. K. If you are facing a threatening situation a great challenge or trial that has come against you; you can the same Throne Of Grace the early Christians accessed. You are invited to come boldly before God. L. Remember Boldness is not based on how you feel; Its based solely on the character of God and you can trust him to give you the wisdom and strength you need for victory and be more than a conqueror in your situation
