"Parts of plant" video (songs) scientist song ( a song they know) Students are told we are going to start a garden!!!

During first 20 min eld students engage in kWl asking questions about previous video and text (plants houghton muffling) Second 20 min session students ask questions and answer questions regarding task: after reading informational text together, students are asked name part of a plant.... Find what page provides answer... Then close book and recall information learned Play game like hang man with labeling part of a plant( next lesson would require labeling plant parts)

Students open science books find and read highlighted vocabulary words and take turns reading about plants read whole with teacher prompt then separate parts of chapter and students read in groups specified text then students come back and think pair share then each group presents their text to whole class Students learn and sing pea pod song( music, lyrics,movement)
