___________________________________________________________

Precept: a general rule intended to guide behaviour or thought (a `motto' to live by). After reading and discussing a number of precepts as a class, you will now take these ideas

and your knowledge of Wonder to explore a precept on your own.

TASK: Choose ONE of the following precepts and write a detailed paragraph to discuss its meaning and significance in relation to Wonder.

1) Strong people don't pull others down. They lift them up ? Michael P. Watson 2) Find beauty in the world and the world will find beauty in you ? Zoe 3) Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves ? J.M. Barrie 4) Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail ? Ralph

Waldo Emerson 5) It's not enough to be friendly. You have to be a friend ? Charlotte, Wonder.

STEPS: Follow these steps to construct your paragraph

a) Define the key terms ? find synonyms and rewrite the precept in your own words b) Brainstorm ideas:

a. Do you agree with this precept? Why or why not? b. How does this precept relate to Wonder? Find examples of events or characters to support

your ideas. c. Can you find examples from your own life that relate to this precept? What did you learn

from these experiences? c) Write your paragraph ? remember to write in full sentences and use joining words/phrases to

connect your ideas. d) Proofread your paragraph (correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc.)
