To the IBCC Membership.... Happy New Year!

Our Annual Meeting/Dinner will be on March 19th. We will be at Louie's in Meridian, and all the info will be available in the February Spoke & Word, as well as the website. The planning stage is well underway for the 2005 IBCC summer tour. I revealed some info at the club's annual Christmas Dinner, and here's more:

Depart Boise on Friday June 3rd, at a time (morning) and location TBA Lodging is confirmed at the Tyrolean Best Western in Ketchum, ID. Saturday, the June 4th...a mini tour of the Wood River Valley area with an evening meal at...... well, I'm still working on that... Sunday, June 5th, we will tour back together over Galena Summit, to Stanley, Lowman, Idaho City, and back into Boise.

Set the time aside to join up with us, and make your reservations soon at the Tyrolean 800-3337912. Tell 'em you are with IBCC and get the $76.50 per night rate. This is a great deal for Sun Valley lodging, actually below off-season, so I hope you can join in for the fun! The Boise MINI Owners Group is being extended an invitation to join, so we hope to see them as well! More details as they become available. Coincidentally, this event occurs on the last three days of the National DRIVE YOUR BRITISH CAR WEEK. See the `links' section on the club website for more info on that. Our event will appear on their calendar soon.

As newly elected Officers of other Marque clubs in the area take the reins, I am contacting them to join IBCC in the Boise area Car Club Show and Shine at MeTime Coffeehouse on Sept 25th. Invited clubs: Silver Sage Porsche, Le Bois Miata, Valley Corvettes and a few others I have yet to contact.

For those that did not attend our club Christmas Party (pictures next page), it was a wonderful evening, and I can't say enough thanks to Bryan and Montse Connington for hosting a great party!!!! Almost all of the meal was arranged by Sid and Maria Bronson, and it was a stellar job, KUDOS to you, Sid and Maria!!!! More than once, it was mentioned the gift exchange went on forever. Not blaming any one of us for the time it took, simple matter of the number of people, which I believe was 72! An easy solution and suggestion for the next board of directors: The ladies do a Christmas Tree ornament exchange, the guys still swap Little British Car stuff.....and that's my 2 cents.

Lastly, but not leastly, I hope we see some clear weather on at least some of the weekends so we can get out and DRIVE THEM CARS!!!!!

And: happy moToRing!! Rod

SUs from a "Theoretical and Mechanical Standpoint"

Bob Frisby has graciously offered to run a tech session at his house on SU carburetors:

Most SU write-ups don't do justice to the whole business of correct dashpot operation and that sort of thing. Mostly, they talk about "tuning" them, but there are many more basic aspects of a rebuild that Bob will cover in a short tech session.

Date: Saturday 15th January

Time: 2 pm

Location: 1708 Sunrise Rim Rd. Boise

Directions: From I84, Vista Ave. exit (Exit 53), travel north (towards city) and turn east at traffic lights onto W. Sunrise Rim Rd. Go approx 0.7 miles and house is on the left right at Denmark St.

New Club Officers Needed!

As you all know (or will know if you read this!) IBCC elections are coming up soon at the annual meeting, on March 19th. All offices are open to nomination, and here is what is on the slate so far

Secretary: no nomination Treasurer: Montse Connington has agreed to be nominated Events Chairperson: no nomination Newsletter Editor: no nomination Membership Chair: Maria Bronson has agreed to be nominated (and is currently serving in that

position) Vice President: Alan Lemen has agreed to be nominated and will also continue as Web-master

(unless anyone else wants to take over this responsibility) President: no nomination

Nominations are open until the elections. The Secretary, Events chair, and Membership chair were newly created with acceptance of the By-Laws. These positions will help lighten the load for the other board members, and hopefully make things more enjoyable for all!
