A total loading dose of 10 g is usually achieved with 0.8–1.2 g daily doses. The maintenance dose is 200–400 mg daily. Intravenous: 300 mg intravenously, over 10—60 min depending on the circumstances and haemodynamic stability of the patient, followed by an infusion of 900 mg over 24 h.
