From the Principal’s Office
First, I would like to thank the parents for their positive approach to the dress code policy; we have had very few problems with the policy. Also, I would like to thank you for making me feel welcome as the new Principal. I look forward to working with the students and parents to make this a great school.
Renovations at the Intermediate School have been completed with a few exceptions. The new office area is very functional and welcoming, while the classrooms have upgraded storage areas, Smart Boards, or Mimioboards, allowing the students the best learning environment.
Our recent fundraising event, selling Idaho products, was an extreme success, once again, thank you for supporting the Fruitland schools.
ISAT testing for the fall has been completed. Analysis of the test results will take place in the near future and recommendations made for some students.
If you have concerns for, suggestions or would like to visit Fruitland Intermediate School, please do not hesitate to call 452-7424 to visit with me.
Sincerely,
Kimi Fitch,
Principal

Middle School
The first nine weeks at Fruitland Middle School has flown by quickly. We have had a busy and productive first nine weeks. We completed our fall ISAT testing, and are awaiting the results. However, the spring ISAT testing is what counts for out students. Our fall sports teams had great success. Our seventh grade volleyball and football teams were S.R.V. league champions. The eighth grade football team also brought home the S.R.V. league championship, while our volleyball team brought home second place. We have already begun our winter sports with wrestling and girl’s basketball beginning practices with games just around the corner. Fruitland Middle School’s academic bowl team, under the direction of Mrs. Hartung, places a solid second place at Homedale in their first showing of the year. On Tuesday, October 23rd, our 7th and 8th grade bands gave their first performance. They did an OUTSTANDING job and sounded great!!!!! Congratulations to ALL our teams for an outstanding effort!!!
F.M.S. annual cookie dough sale is currently underway. This is a very important fundraiser for our middle school. The funds go to support various programs within the school. Please contact the middle school or a middle school student if you are interested in buying any cookie dough
The sale ends October 30th; however, we may be able to fill some late orders if requested. The cookie dough tastes GREAT!!!!!! It will arrive in November, just in time for the holiday season.
The Parent Connect website link is now working on our school district website. Please make sure to register so that you can get important information regarding your child’s academic progress.
If at any time you have questions or concern regarding anything at Fruitland Middle School, I encourage you to call the school and discuss the matter with either the teacher(s) or one of the school’s administrators. Thanks for all your support in your child’s education.
Sincerely,
Mr. Geno Bates
Principal

From the District Office:
It is hard to believe that it is already November 1st and the first quarter of the school year has been completed. It seems that not that long ago we were registering students, setting schedules and completing our final preparations to begin the school year. The school district is off to a great start and I want to commend our staff for the great job they do educating our children.
The new student dress code has been a major topic of discussion the past few months and I am happy to report that the students, staff and parents have been very cooperative in helping us implement this new policy and I am very appreciative of their support. We will establish a student dress code review committee made up of staff, parents and students. If you would like to be considered for participation on this committee please contact your school principal.
On the education front, there are a number of initiatives and task forces being developed by the State Department of Education and Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Luna. The Math Initiative will focus on building math skills across grades K-12, the Middle School task force will focus on bringing rigor and relevance to the middle grades, the Assessment Committee will examine the current Idaho Comprehensive Assessment System
and make recommendations to the Idaho State Board of Education, the Safe Schools study will assess the current status of the safety and security of K-12 facilities throughout Idaho, and the Rural Education Initiative will focus on finding solutions to the problems Idaho’s rural schools face. If these are of interest to you, the updated information is on the State Department of Education’s web site.
Finally, the state standardized tests have been given to your students for the fall session and the results will be given to you when the test vendor sends them to the schools. I encourage you to contact your school if you have any questions about your student’s test scores. Our teachers will be reviewing those test scores both individually and collectively to determine the “best practices” for meeting our students’ educational needs. We believe working together with the parents provides the best opportunity for “Educating All Students to Their Full Potential”.
