Motion passed unanimously.J. D. Williams questioned why cars are included in contracts for some university personnel in today’s competitive job market. He thinks offering vehicles as part of the compensation packages should be reconsidered. Governor Batt said he has wondered about this same situation and feels that is a good question. Mike Brassey reported there seems to be two kinds of vehicle assignments for universities - for presidents, vice presidents and others which are included in the contract by the Board of Education, and for emergency situation employees. J.D. said he would be willing to send the Office of the Board of Education a letter on behalf of the Board of Examiners members advising to make sure authorization of vehicle assignment is justified. Attorney General Al Lance also said the liability situation should be considered.MINUTESSTATE BOARD OF EXAMINERSJanuary 14, 1997Page 6WHEREUPON THE MEETING OF THE STATE BOARD OF EXAMINERS was adjourned, subject to the call of the Chairman._______________________________Governor Philip E.
