The teacher will introduce the vocabulary using ConnectEd. The students will take turns reading “Sadie’s Game” on pg. 310. The teacher will introduce the weekly reading skill: Problem and Solution. Students will practice identifying the problem and solution from the story.Tuesday: Students will reread “Sadie’s Game”” in a small group and participate in small group discussions. We will review problem and solution using a read aloud and students will complete an activity in their reading notebooks. Students will create flashcards to reinforce new vocabulary. Wednesday: The teacher will introduce the weekly vocabulary strategy: Similes and Metaphors. Students will create an anchor chart in their reading notebooks and practice by completing a simile and metaphor activity. Students will practice grade level reading comprehension and skills using Compass Learning. Thursday: Students will complete a Close read of “Mama, I’ll Give You the World” and answer questions as they read to practice asking and answering questions.
