Golf: Teachers vs. Golf students after school

Key Club Members: Meet in the gym @ 2:55 p.m.

Sophomores: Sophomores will be going to the Hancock Extension in the a.m. for the PLAN (preliminary ACT exam).  Testing goes until noon.

Speech Team Meeting: Speech team will have a meeting at 3:05 on Thursday, October 23rd in Mrs. Sturlic’s room (602).

Volleyball: Southeastern Senior Night @ Home 6:00 & 7:00 p.m.

Seniors: A representative from WIU will be here at 9:00 a.m. in the cafeteria to meet with interested seniors.

Picture Retakes: The following students missed picture retakes. They will get their pictures taken again on Friday, October 24th in the morning. SATURDAY’S EVENTS

The ACT exam for seniors wishing to retake and improve one's score is this Saturday, Oct. 25.    Students need their admission ticket and must report by 8:00 to their test site.

IWHS CHEERLEADING BASKETBALL TRYOUTS

There will be basketball cheerleading tryouts on October 29.  Practice dates for tryouts will be on Oct. 20, 22, and 27.  You must attend one or more of the practice dates to tryout.  If you are interested, please be sure to pick up the forms from Mrs. Twaddle before the practice dates.  A parent meeting for basketball cheerleading is scheduled for October 27th at 6 pm in Mrs. Twaddle’s classroom.

If you are trying out for basketball cheerleading, please make sure you see Mrs. Twaddle to sign up and get your paperwork.

INTERNATIONAL CLUB

International Club Trip to Mayas restaurant in Quincy is this Sunday. The bus will leave at 1:00 and will return at 4:00. Sign up in Mrs. Johnson room by Thursday.

Also International Club T-Shirts are for sale. Money and order forms are due this Friday, October 24th.

SENIORS

For only $10.00 you can have your very own 8x10 picture of the senior class.  See Mrs. Holtsclaw to place your order.

PARKING-IMPORTANT

The 2 spaces on the East side of the parking lot, by the band room are for traveling teachers. Students are NOT allowed to park there. Your vehicle will be blocked in or towed if you park there.

FBLA

The Job Skill Fair is available to eligible FBLA students.  The date is on December 12, 2008.  There are a limited number of seats available.  Please see Mrs. Twaddle for a permission slip and details.

FBLA students – Take note!!  Did you know there is an informational bulletin board outside Mrs. Holtsclaw’s room?  You will want to visit it frequently for up-to-date information.

Any student interested in job shadowing on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 need to return a permission slip to Mrs. Twaddle no later than Friday, October 24, 2008.  See Mrs. Twaddle for details.

FBLA members, please check to make sure your name in on the FBLA roster for T-shirt size, registration and dues.  The roster is posted on the FBLA bulletin board outside of Mrs. Holtsclaw’s room.  This must be done today as t-shirts and registration will be submitted.

VOCATIONAL EDUCATIONAL DEPARTMENT

The vocational educational department will be selling caramel apples during both lunch periods every Thursday in October.  Cost is $1.00 each.  Additional toppings are extra. 

IW SCHOLASTIC BOWL

There will be an informational meeting for all Scholastic Bowl Participants on Friday Oct 24th at 3:20 p.m.   The meeting will be in Mr. Raftis’s room (# 307) and it will be held in order to discuss the schedule for this year along with a few other items as well.  If you plan on participating…you need to be at the meeting.  It will last about 20 minutes.

SPORTS BOOSTERS-HAM & TURKEY DINNER

Sunday, October 26th from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. is the Ham & Turkey Dinner

Parents of athletes – please bring your food donations for the ham and turkey dinner on Saturday morning between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00p.m. or on Sunday morning by 10:00 a.m.

Freshmen and Junior parents are to donate salads; Sophomore and Senior parents are to donate desserts. If you haven’t been contacted and would like to donate a salad or dessert to the dinner, please call Angie at 357-3866; Tami at 845-3821; Cindy at 852-3488 or Nicole at 309-255-4445.

All athletes should have signed up to work one of the shifts at the ham & turkey dinner. The deadline for turning in the time of shift you prefer to work is on Wednesday. Please turn in your form to your coaches. The shifts are 10:30 – 12:30 and 12:30 – 2:30. Report to the gym on Sunday, and you will be given more information.

If you pre-ordered a playoff shirt or sweatshirt, you will be able to pick it up at the Ham & Turkey Dinner on Sunday. If not, they will be delivered to the office and can be picked up on Monday. No more playoff orders will be taken. There have been some extras ordered and will be available for sale on Sunday.  First come, first serve.

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES

Sophomores who missed Jostens-Turn your ring orders into the main office by Wednesday, October 22nd and you will receive your ring with the rest of the class. Mrs. Hellyer has a ring sizer.
