You have just had an implant placed - ProSites, Inc.

POST-OPERATIVE IMPLANT INSTRUCTIONS

You have just had an implant placed. Most of the time our patients do extremely well and have less pain than they anticipated; however, occasionally, they have more pain and or swelling than expected.

For the next 48 hours your level of pain and swelling may be a lot or a little. It depends on how your body reacts to the surgery which was just performed. After that time we expect improvement. If you have a lot of pain and swelling then by the third day you should be seeing some improvement. If it is getting better, then let it get better. If you had minimal pain, then by the third day, it should be mostly gone.

If you are still having any of the following 3-4 days after your surgery, you need to call our office:

-Pain which has not improved.

-Pain which is increasing

-Swelling which is increasing

-Pain or swelling had been improving, but is now getting worse

Please do not wait 5, 6, 7 days or more before calling in the hopes that it will get better.

If there is a problem we need to know about it. By calling earlier, rather than later, we can either see you, if necessary, or deal with the problem over the phone. By calling earlier, rather than later, we can intervene at an appropriate time (if needed). This will decrease the discomfort you are having. It will also decrease the chance of your implant failing. By calling our office as indicated in this note, you are helping us to properly help care for you. If the problem occurs over the weekend, you have phone numbers where I can be reached.

Thank you for your co-operation
