Export your Students from Infinite Campus into a CSV fileLog into Infinite CampusClick Reports (Grade Book) on the left hand menu.In Report Options, choose Grade Book ExportChoose the class you would like to export, for example: Math 5Ensure file format says: Comma SeparatedClick Generate Report. [Repeat for all classes.]Open the file in Excel. Depending on the web browser you are using, you may not get the choice to open immediately, and the file will be added to your downloads folder automatically. Find the file in your downloads folder and double-click it to open it in Excel. Once the data is in Excel:Highlight Column B, where the first assignment resides, by clicking on the B cell at the top. Right click on that B column. Choose insert. A blank column will be inserted and your assignment data will be moved one column to the right. Do this again to insert a total of 3 blank columns next to column A.Now, highlight Column A, where the student information resides, by clicking on the A cell at the top. Click the Data tab (at the top of window in the row by the File and Home tab).Click the button “Text to Columns”Ensure “Delimited” is checked. Click Next.Set Delimiters by checking the boxes for “Comma” and “ Space.” No other boxes should be checked. You should see it break the columns into Last Name, First Name, Middle Initial and Student Number in this window.Click Finish.It will ask if you want it to overwrite or replace the contents of the cells in the next columns. Click Yes. (This is why you created the three new blanks ones.) Double-check your data. You may have one or two students that need to be adjusted.If you needed just the student names and ID numbers, you can delete your grades, and save your file. The file is now a CSV file, so your student information can be imported easily into other programs. Importing Students CSV file into CPS eInstruction softwareOpen your csv file in ExcelYou need to add a Header to each column to specify what data is in that column. To do this, click on the 1, next to the last name of the first student. It will highlight the entire row. Now, right-click on the 1. Choose “Insert.” This will insert a blank row.In the blank cell above the last name write: LastIn the blank cell above the first name, write: FirstIn the blank cell above the student’s ID number, write: StudentID (no spaces)Save your file where you can find it. It may give you a warning message. This is ok, and just click continue. Open CPS eInstruction SoftwareClick on the Prepare tab at the top left of the screen.Click on Classes and StudentsClick on ImportChoose “Comma Separated Values (csv), then ContinueBrowse to the location of your saved CSV file, click OpenClick continue once your file name is shown. It will tell you your data has completed successfully, then click done.Your class will now be listed with all of your imported students. You may want to rename the class title by right clicking on the class and choosing rename or edit.Repeat the process for each class you would like to import.Start using your responders to gather data! ................
