June 11, 2018Dr. XXXXXXXXXXXXReno, NV 89506Dear?Dr XXXXXXX,Thank you for allowing me a few minutes of your time. My name is?Dr. Jason Doucette and I am a dentist who is committed to maximizing successful treatment options for patients who suffer from snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). I am double boarded in the treatment and management of sleep breathing disorders as they relate to dentistry with over 300+ hours of continuing education in this area specifically. Furthermore, I teach dentists nationally the basics of dental sleep medicine and the associated protocols that are consistent with the highest levels of patient care as defined by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. At our office, we treat snoring, upper airway resistance syndrome, and obstructive sleep apnea on a daily basis. In conjunction with our local medical community (sleep physicians, ENT’s, Cardiologists, and PCP’s), we evaluate patients individually and recommend treatment plans based on disease severity and patient preferences, all the while following the most recent (2016) practice parameters set forth by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) for use of oral appliances in the treatment of snoring and OSA. The two current recommended standards are:That sleep physicians prescribe oral appliances, rather than no therapy, for adult patients who request treatment of primary snoring (without obstructive sleep apneaThat sleep physicians consider prescription of oral appliances, rather than no treatment, for adult patients with obstructive sleep apnea who are intolerant of CPAP therapy or prefer alternate therapyAs awareness of the detrimental impacts on quality of life and the deadly effects of OSA (hypertension, MI, CHF, A-fib, stroke, fatigue, impotence, mood swings, and dozing accidents) increases in the public's eye, an increasing number of patients will be asking questions about snoring, sleep apnea, and the options available for testing and treatment. Therefore, please feel free to refer those patients to our office for a complimentary sleep screening appointment to get them on the most efficient path to testing, diagnosis, and management of this deadly condition. Again, thank you for your time and commitment to the health and wellness of our community.Sincerely, Jason R Doucette, DMDAmerican Board of Dental Sleep Medicine-DiplomateAmerican Sleep and Breathing Academy-Diplomate ................
