Fifth GradeName __________________________________________June 2019Dear Families,In order to help students maintain their reading skills this summer, we have assigned three books for all incoming fifth graders: Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, Wonder by R.J. Palacio, and The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischman. The accompanying assignments inside this packet must also be completed, and returned the first week of school. Students are welcome to write their responses directly on the pages, or may alternatively return a typed assignment. They can choose which of the 3 assigned books they want to apply to the two activities (one for each); we will have another activity for the remaining book in September. All three books will be referred to throughout book discussions.Students do not need to purchase the books. I encourage you to visit your local libraries throughout the summer, and sign up for their summer reading incentive programs. I truly appreciate all you do to support your child’s learning at home, and look forward to working with you in September.-Ms. Vargas Book OneTitle ___________________________________________________Author_________________________________________________Please note, the following responses need to be written in complete sentences.1.)
