CLINICAL ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/CERTIFIED PEDIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER – PURDUE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF NURSING (APRIL 2006 – PRESENT) CURRENTLY SPLITTING MY TIME AS DIRECTOR OF THE DOCTOR OF NURSING PRACTICE PROGRAM, DIRECTOR OF THE MASTER’S OF SCIENCE/PEDIATRICS NURSE PRACTITIONER MASTER’S PROGRAM, DIRECTOR OF PRACTICE AND OUTREACH FOR THE SCHOOL OF NURSING, AND PRACTICING AT THE FAMILY HEALTH CLINIC OF CARROLL COUNTY (A FQHC THAT IS PART OF THE NORTH CENTRAL NURSING CENTERS (NCNC)).

Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – Arnett Clinic (May 2003 – April 2006) Worked full-time as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Asthma/Allergy and General Pediatrics. Responsibilities included providing care to pediatric patients with asthma and allergies, providing primary care to general pediatric patients, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests as appropriate, prescribing pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments as necessary, providing patient/parent/family education and counseling for health and disease management, as well as serving as a resource for community groups, agencies, and nursing schools.
Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – Family Health Clinic of Carroll County (November 1999 –October 2003) Worked 2 days a week as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in a rural clinic setting which served the medically underserved population. Responsibilities included providing a broad range of primary health services to children from birth through early adulthood. Some of these health services include performing physical exams; treating common childhood illnesses; managing common chronic illnesses; and educating families regarding normal childhood growth and development, safety, and nutrition. Also served as Child Health Coordinator – responsibilities include coordinating child health services within the clinic as well as collaborating with local agencies to provide services and programs to children in the community.
