Licensing Requirements:

Candidate will hold a valid Indiana Teachers License with certification in Earth/Space/Life Science Licensing

Professional Requirements and Qualifications:

The teacher who is employed in the position must demonstrate the following qualifications and experience:

1. The ability to create and maintain appropriate relationships with students which foster a positive classroom environment that supports student learning.

2. The ability to create and maintain effective classroom management routines and discipline.

3. The ability to demonstrate and effectively communicate extensive knowledge of the content area that they are licensed to teach.

4. The ability to demonstrate successful teaching of a range of students (from exceptional learners to Advanced Placement students).

5. The ability to demonstrate and communicate extensive knowledge and demonstrated practice of sound pedagogy. This includes the ability to select and implement developmentally appropriate instructional strategies aligned with Common Core State Standards, to deliver content in a relevant and interesting manner, and reliable and informative classroom assessment techniques.

6. The ability to use various strategies that support student development and mastery of literacy skills as required by the Common Core Standards.

7. The ability to effectively demonstrate the use of technologies that support student learning and classroom teaching (i.e. interactive whiteboards, curriculum mapping software, student management systems, etc.).

8. The ability to use data to differentiate classroom instruction and implement tired interventions whenever it is necessary and appropriate with a wide range of students.

9. The ability to work cooperatively as a member of content-level, departmental, and faculty team.

10. The ability to effectively communicate and solve problems with students, parents, and colleagues using a variety of electronic tools and media.
