Character Anlysis: Gene vs

A Separate Peace Character Analysis: Gene vs. FinnyYour task in this assignment is to develop some inferences about character traits that you think Gene and Finny possess. Come up with an idea about a character trait you believe either Gene or Finny has. For instance, on several occasions, Gene refers to Finny as “hypnotic”. “Hypnotic” could be one of traits you believe or have inferred that Finny has. Next, find an example in the text where your inference is supported. On page 905, for instance, he describes Finny’s voice as the “equivalent in sound of a hypnotist’s eyes.” This quote is the support or evidence to back up your assertion. It’s proof of your claim about the character trait you said they had. You’ve studied characterization before. Include examples of both direct and indirect characterization to tell your story of the traits. Finally, include a brief explanation or analysis of HOW the quote supports your inference. Be careful to avoid circular reasoning (“Because it says he’s hypnotic, this shows that he’s hypnotic …”)Follow these steps to successfully complete this assignment: Brainstorm character traits for Finny and Gene. Consider the use of a Thesaurus to help you with word choice on the traits you choose; use of synonyms for the “category” of a general trait you’ve inferred would be appropriate.Look back through the novel and find evidence to support your inference of the traits they e up with at least one trait for each chapter grouping listed:1-4; 5-7; 8-10; 11-13Record the trait in the chart below, as well as 2 supporting quotes to and your analysis As the final step in the assignment, choose one of the following prompts and write up a short character analysis at the end of this document that makes use of some of the work (support your thesis with at least 3 pieces of textual support) from your chart:Choose one of the characters (Gene or Finny) and analyze the “changes and continuities” in the development of the character from the beginning of the novel through to the end.
