Networking

We are glad to propose you some FAO useful Websites links to educators, trainers, extensions for agriculture and rural development, food security and more.

The Virtual Extension and Research Communication Network (VERCON) is a conceptual model developed by FAO. Any country can use and adapt it to strengthen the linkages among extension, research, farmers and other stakeholders of agricultural and rural development systems. The model aims at improving access to agricultural information and knowledge sharing and supporting linkages among all the stakeholders, using new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and creating opportunities for collaborative work. FAO has been supporting since 2000 knowledge and communication systems based on the VERCON model in several countries.

e-Agriculture

A global initiative supported by different partners, including FAO, to enhance sustainable agricultural development and food security by improving the use of information, communication, and associated technologies in the sector.

Technology for Agriculture (TECA)

Aiming at supporting the documentation and dissemination of proven technologies, this web-based initiative for a network of decentralised databases or repositories uses a standard field structure to describe technologies, and for easy information exchange between repositories.

International Information System for the Agricultural Sciences and Technology (AGRIS)

Created by FAO in 1974 to facilitate information exchange and to bring together world literature dealing with all aspects of agriculture. Today, AGRIS aims at strengthen national agricultural information management programmes using Internet-based technologies.

 FAO Research and Extension Site

Illustrate FAO work to improve national systems by supporting the organization and management of national agricultural research systems, providing assessment, policy advice and assistance to reorienting extension services and facilitating and promoting FAO participation in international initiatives and efforts in agricultural research and extension.

 FAO Agricultural Market Information Services

Market information is crucial to enable farmers and traders to make informed decisions about what to grow, when to harvest, to which markets produce should be sent and whether or not to store it. FAO Marketing Group is active in promoting efficient and sustainable market information services in member countries.

Coherence for Information for Agricultural Research for Development (CIARD)

The CIARD initiative is working to make agricultural research information publicly available and accessible to all. This means working with organisations that hold information or that create new knowledge – to help them disseminate it more efficiently and make it easier to access.
