Commonly known as the “Milwaukee Cannibal” or the “Milwaukee Monster”, Jeffrey was an American serial killer and sex offender. He murdered and severed the limbs of 17 males, both men and boys, from 1978 up to 1991. Rape, dismemberment, necrophilia, and cannibalism were all key components of his modus operandi. After avoiding the police for 14 years, Dahmer was finally imprisoned in February of 1992 for 15 terms of life imprisonment. Jeffrey Dahmer was murdered in prison by Christopher Scarver, who also was an inmate at Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin. Dahmer died at the age of 34 on November 28th, 1994 due to head injuries, a homicide. His childhoodDahmer’s childhood was not without problems. His mother, Joyce Dahmer, was diagnosed with depression and had attempted to take her own life. His father, Lionel Dahmer, was largely absent as he was preoccupied with his doctoral work. Between the ages of 6 and 8, his family moved a lot before finally settling in Bath, Ohio. As he grew older, the breakdown of his parents marriage and their acrimonious divorce led Dahmer to isolate himself from others and he lost interest in hobbies and social interactions, around the age of 14, he developed compulsions towards necrophilia and 650557564770murder which led him to examine animal carcasses while also abusing alcohol for entertainment. His alcoholism did not stop him from graduating in 1978, and shortly after he committed his first murder. Dahmer attended college but dropped out the same fall, which led his father to force him to enlist in the army where he served as a combat medic in Germany from 1979 to 1981. Why He Did What He DidJeffrey Dahmer committed 17 murders throughout his lifetime, with rape, dismemberment, necrophilia, and cannibalism all key components in his murders. After dissecting animals and then dissolving the bodies in chemicals, Dahmer fell in love with bones as a kid. Discovering his homosexuality shortly after at the age of 14, this led to Dahmer fantasizing with lifeless male bodies at a ripe age. He turned his fantasy into a reality in the summer of 1978 at his parents home. After his first murder, Dahmer fell in love with his vulgar murders and the rush it gave him, which led him to keep on abusing and murdering innocent victims. The Last StagesDahmer had his fair share of arrests since his first in 1986 for masturbating in front of two 12 year old boys. 2 years later, Dahmer was put behind bars for 10 months after sexually fondling a 13 year old boy and offering him money for his nude photographs. After his release, Dahmer was put on probation but his case worker had never visited his home throughout his probation period. On July 22, 1991, in his apartment, police found body parts and severed heads in his fridge, freezer, filing 650557545720cabinet, and in his kettle After evading law enforcement for his murders for 14 years, Dahmer was arrested in July of 1991. Although Dahmer had admitted to the murder of 17 males between 1978 and 1991, his sentence, where Dahmer was convicted of 15 murders, only consisted of 15 terms of life imprisonment. Shortly after, Dahmer was convicted of an additional 16th murder and given a 16th term of life imprisonment. Starting February 15, 1992, Dahmer spent his short 2 years at Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin. For the first year of Dahmer’s time in prison, he was kept in protective custody and isolated from the general prison population. After a year in protective custody, Dahmer requested to be moved from his isolated cell to a cell with other prisoners. He had also been granted the option of attending classes and performing work duties. This exposure with the general prison population would prove fatal for Dahmer though. On the day of Dahmer’s death, November 28, 1994, he was on cleaning duty in the prison gym’s bathroom with two other inmates, Jesse Anderson and Christopher Scarver. The three were left unsupervised for 20 minutes and the bludgeoned bodies of Dahmer and Anderson were the first sights for the returning guards. Both Dahmer and Anderson had died from the attack. Scarver, the murderer of Dahmer, stated he had a deep hatred for Dahmer and Dahmer was well aware of it. This led many to believe Dahmer’s request to join the general prison population was his death wish, including his attorney who stated, “Dahmer had a death wish, and I know that he didn’t have the gumption to do it himself, so I predicted that the day would come when he would be killed in prison.650557574295Jeffrey Dahmer’s Strategies for MurderJeffrey Dahmer was a very precise young man. The way he murdered was frightening and intimidating. He would meet his suspects at a gay bar or club. Dahmer was known to bribe the victims with money to pose in front of a camera while being nude. He also raped every single victim whether the victim was dead or alive. He would drug the young men, inviting them to his Grandmother's house or his apartment for a drink. If the drugs in alcohol didn’t kill the victims first, Dahmer would strangle them to death. To dispose of the bodies Dahmer would cut up the head, legs, and arms. After detaching the body from the head, he would paint the heads grey. He kept the painted heads wrapped up in plastic wrap in the fridge as souvenirs. Dahmer would put the rest of the cut-up corpse in the garbage or a bucket of acid. If Dahmer's victim was even more 650557545720appealing after killing him, Dahmer would keep the corpse in his basement and have sexual intercourse with the dead body. 650557574295JEFFREY DAHMER’S VICTIMS 4676775304800Steven Hicks, 18 years old, June 18, 1978 - Hicks was murdered in Bath Township. On his release, Dahmer was put on probation. Although he showed up at the probation office every month, his home was never visited by his caseworker. On July 22, 1991, in his apartment, police found body parts and severed heads in his fridge, freezer, filing cabinet, and in his kettle. He quickly confessed to 11 murders, and later, to the killing and dismembering of 17 people between 1978 and 1991. After being arrested again in July of 1991, Dahmer was convicted for 15 murders, therefore receiving 15 terms of life imprisonment.SummaryOver the course of Dahmer's life, he committed several crimes which made him well known with the law enforcement. Since his first murder 13 years ago until his last murder which took place a couple of days ago, Dahmer has been on the federal radar for 10+ years.
