MAGAZINES IN BRAILLE

The following magazines are available in Braille format from the National Library

Service. If you would like to subscribe to any of these magazines, contact the Wisconsin Talking Book & Braille Library. Additional titles may be available as electronic-Braille on BARD. Visit to check out the latest downloadable magazines.

Boys' Life (for children and teens; monthly)

Articles on the outdoors, sports, and hobbies, with adventure fiction and humor; for ages nine through sixteen. Published by the Boy Scouts of America.

Braille Book Review (bimonthly)

Announcements of braille books recently added to the collection of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) as well as news and developments in library services for people who are blind. Braille edition includes one-line annotations of books listed in Talking Book Topics and a braille order form. Some issues contain selections from NLS News.

Braille Chess Magazine (quarterly)

Articles on chess; news of current trends and competitions.

Braille Music Magazine (monthly)

Articles about classical music for professional and amateur musicians; reviews of new braille music publications.

Conundrum (monthly)

Crossword and logic puzzles, anagrams, Sudoku, and general-knowledge quizzes.

Cooking Light (11 issues)

Short articles on exercise, food, fitness, health, and nutrition. Each issue contains approximately seventy recipes that feature fresh, natural ingredients and low-fat cooking.

Cooks Illustrated (bimonthly)

Provides recipes, cooking techniques, product and food recommendations without advertising.

ESPN Magazine (biweekly)

Sports news and information; player profiles.

Harper's Magazine (monthly)

General culture magazine with articles by well-known writers on politics, international affairs, education, and science. Includes short stories, satire, and poetry.

Health Newsletters (monthly)

Current health concerns, medical information, nutrition, and stress management from Harvard Health Letter; Mayo Clinic Health Letter; and University of California Berkeley Wellness Letter.

Kiplinger's Personal Finance (monthly)

General-interest articles on managing finances, including taxes, investment options, real estate, insurance, and retirement planning.

Martha Stewart Living (10 issues)

Recipes and tips on gardening, crafts, collectibles, housekeeping, and entertaining.

Muse (for children; 9 issues)

The Musical Mainstream (quarterly)

Literary articles and book reviews from the Sunday New York Times .

Highlights from the New York Times.

O, The Oprah Magazine (monthly)

General interest topics with human interest features, helpful tips, and

inspirational advice.

Information about children’s health, safety, behavior, discipline and education; also stories on women’s health, nutrition, pregnancy, marriage, and beauty.

PC World (monthly)

Information for computer users about hardware, software, advanced technology, and trends in the field; columns on product reviews and helpful hints.

Playboy (monthly)

Fiction, interviews, and articles with a male perspective.

Poetry (11 issues)

Contemporary poetry selected from a wide range of contributors and styles.

Popular Mechanics (10 issues)

Practical advice for amateur mechanics, information on automotive and home repairs, and features on new equipment.

Popular Music Lead Sheets (quarterly)

Melodies, lyrics, and chords to popular songs ranging from golden oldies to recent hits.
