This is the same schedule we will use for both online, and when we have in-person classes. The classes are spread out over two days. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we will have periods 1 through 4, and they will be 60 minutes long. On Tuesday and Thursday, we will have periods 5 through 7 and they will be 90 minutes each. Lunch is included but is not a separate period as in previous years. You will also see that from 8 to 10 am is blended learning. Students will be able to receive tutoring and assistance according to the teachers’ posted schedule, except for Wednesday mornings, which is dedicated to faculty and department meetings. Below is a link to a video explaining the schedule in more detail. you know, classes begin at 10:00 am and will end at 3:25 pm. There will be another blended learning time just like in the morning, starting at 3:30 pm. Teachers will be available according to their posted schedule, until 4:30 pm. Morning and afternoon blended learning times will also provide for practices and rehearsals for any extra-curricular activities. During virtual learning and Phase I and II, attendance will be taken at the beginning of each period based on when the student enters the virtual classroom. If for some reason a student cannot make it into the synchronous (live) time they can still be counted present for the period as long as they log in through the NEISD Launchpad into the Google classroom by 5 pm. As long as students log in and complete the daily assignment before midnight of the same day, the teacher will see that they logged in and will be able to change the attendance the next day. According to the minimum time schedule required by the Texas Education Agency, if a student exceeds five (5) absences per course, he/she will be subject to loss of credit for that course. Students will have to work with their assigned Assistant Principal to work out credit recovery. Textbooks – Textbooks for AP classes were distributed. All other classes have online resources available and/or online textbooks. However, if a student desires a textbook, they should speak with their teacher. If you have questions you can email Mr. Villanueva, Assistant Principal over textbooks at cvilla3@, or Ms. Bustinza, Administrative Assistant at jbusti@. We look forward to working with everyone. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need assistance or have any questions. Remember, together we can accomplish VIRTUALLY anything!Human Sexuality and Abstinence Education (HSAE) Instruction - Due to COVID-19, the phase-in process, and the need for continued distance learning, NEISD will delay the teaching of human sexuality and abstinence education instruction until the spring 2021 semester. This is to ensure that the District can fully honor parents' choice on whether their child will receive the curriculum. Furthermore, instruction is age-specific and there is no way to verify only the targeted age group is being addressed in a virtual format. It is the District's hope that in-person learning will be fully available to all students at that time. As such, the District will not offer the curriculum during the fall 2020 semester. If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Naylor at Rnaylo@.Health and Wellness - Our North East ISD community is facing more obstacles than ever in and out of the classroom. This is always a challenge; teachers, staff, students, and parents are now navigating the unknowns of the COVID-19 pandemic. While mental health and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) have always been important to NEISD, the added pressures brought on by COVID-19 prompted the District to focus our support systems so help is more accessible to our community.NEISD wants its employees and families to put their own mental health, and overall wellness needs first. The District's Student Leadership & Well-Being team launched a new website focused on offering adult wellness resources, from mental health hotlines to virtual fitness classes, professional counseling, and more. This one-stop webpage houses the many programs available to NEISD staff and families. Mental health education and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) remain a priority for NEISD. To help empower and train staff and parents, the District has partnered with health centers like Laurel Ridge, Deer Oaks, Clarity Child Guidance Center and Communities in Schools. Visit adultwellness. to learn more about the programs and resources that are currently available.ACTIVITIES –NEISD Clothes Closet Scores Donation from MacArthur Linemen - Sports is about much more than winning and losing. Athletes across North East ISD gain crucial life skills on and off the field. Hardships and victories help mold them into goal-driven adults who serve and lead others. MacArthur High School football coach Jason Hendricks is setting his players up for success on and off the field by inspiring them to pay it forward in their community. Coach Hendricks challenged MacArthur’s offensive line to gather donations for the District’s Clothes Closet, which is run by the NEISD Council of PTAs.“We wanted to do it for the kids in our community and teach the players they can be selfless like a good offensive lineman should be,” said Coach Hendricks. “Do what is best for others to be successful. Give your NEISD teammates a chance to win.”Coach Hendricks grew out his beard?over the summer, and as an added incentive, he agreed to shave it all off if they reached their donation goal. It didn’t take long for MacArthur’s O-Line to come up with bags full of socks, underwear, pants and shirts for the Clothes Closet.“They put together an entire truck bed of donations in a single weekend and jumped at the opportunity to drive over after practice and make the donation,” said Coaxh Hendricks. “They learned how the NEISD PTSA Clothes Closet serves the kids firsthand. We are excited to start another donation project as the weather cools and the need for jackets and pants increases during football season.” Thank you for paying it forward and showing how #NEISDcares!?Click here to learn more about the NEISD Clothes Closet.?Brahma Football – This past Friday, October 2nd, our Brahmas traveled to Boerne, Texas, for their first game against the Champion Chargers. I get really excited when I meet with my ASL tutor.” ?Junior Lauren Daniels feels the same way and is just so glad she can help others right now.?“I like helping people when I have the skills and resources to help, and some people just need that extra push to get them motivated or help them understand,” said Daniels.Mr. Kitterman couldn’t be prouder of his students and admits he couldn’t do it without them.“Sometimes when a teacher like myself can’t get through to a student, one of these ASL HS students can get through,” said Kitterman. “This program shows how students mature in this program and not only want to help others but also know how to help them.”Go Brahma ASL!!DEPARTMENTS-FROM OUR MAC LIBRARY – The MacArthur Library is dedicated to serving our students, even from a distance. As such, I make sure that we have voter registration cards available here at MAC in the principal office.? However you choose to register, if you are able to vote, then please make sure to do so.? Voting is a precious right, and it is your right to exercise and let your voice be counted.? I encourage all of you to register and participate in our civic duty. ? voting is October 13?through October 30. Election Day is November 3. ?Election Day is a student and staff holiday. This day off was originally for the city’s Battle of Flowers and came later in the month. However, when the city cancelled the parade, the Board of Trustees voted to move that school holiday to November 3. This allows many of our schools to be used as voting sites during school hours without distracting students. It also allows District employees a daylong opportunity to vote. ?Go Brahma Voters!BRAHMA FANS – We want to remind all of our parents, students, and guests who attend games or any event at home or away, that we need your assistance to ensure that we observe appropriate spectator behavior.
