Addendum for users of MS Word-6, -98, and -2001:

The AIP "toolkit_guide.doc" instructions are written for Windows users of Microsoft Word. The templates work just fine with the Macintosh versions however, and require only minor changes in the directions as given. These have been tested extensively only for Word-98, but seem to work with Word 6 and Word 2001 as well.

1. Under "To Install the Paper Preparation Toolkit" (which for our purposes requires only a single template file named 6x9_letter.dot, or 6x9_A4.dot)

item 2: In the Mac menus, this is "Tools, Preferences…" rather than "Tools, Options…". (the default location under Office 98 and Office 2001 is the "Templates" folder directly under the "Microsoft Office" folder -- if you put the new template file there, you do not need to change the default setting here).

Item 11: If the Macintosh filetype of the .dot template file is not correctly set after downloading (it probably will not be), you need to change it to a Word Template file -- WTBN or W8TN. This is most easily done by opening the downloaded file from within Word, then choosing "Save As…" and saving it as a template. In Word-98 at least, for some reason you must make some change to the filename or it will not update the file type. You can change the name of the file back afterwards, if you want.

Item 12: It does not seem to be necessary to restart Word.

The remainder of the instructions in "toolkit_guide.doc" appear to work identically for the Macintosh versions of Word.
