Installing printer drivers on Windows 7 via Plug and Play

Driver installation on Windows 7 has changed when compared to previous Operating Systems. Windows 7 searches Windows Update for the relevant device; if Windows Update cannot find a suitable driver it will search its own drivers on the system. If there are no drivers available for the device, Windows 7 will not prompt the user for input. You will need to install the driver manually as an Administrator. To do this, follow these steps: 1. To find out if your computer is running a 32-bit or a 64-bit version of Windows in Windows 7 do the following:

1. Open System by clicking the Start button 2. Right-click Computer and select Properties. 3. Under System, you can view the system type.

This should state either "32-bit Operating System" or "64-bit Operating System".
