Why don’t I have the “GDP” option on the Ribbon in Word?

There can be a few reasons for this to occur. The first thing to check is that you have logged into the computer with an administrator account, and if using Windows Vista®, have followed the steps provided on the “Best Practices” section above.

The next thing to check would be the macro security settings in Word.

1. Click on the Office button.

[pic]

2. Click on Word Options.

3. Select “Trust Center”.

4. Click on “Trust Center Settings”.

If you still do not see “GDP” in the Ribbon, please go to your GDPHOME folder which should be located on your “C:\” drive. Once within the folder, locate the file “GDPAddinSetup.msi”.

Double click on the file and follow the prompts to install or repair the GDP Add-in.

I am receiving the message "The change file open directory method or property is not available because the license to use this application has expired." when Word is launched?

This message will appear if you have a trial version of Word and the license has expired. You need to install a licensed version of the software.

I am receiving Error 6000 5 “Unable to save GDP10 data. The file cannot be accessed...” or Error 6003 “Invalid header for the GDP10 file”.

This can occur if the computer locks up and you reboot or you otherwise abnormally exit the program (i.e. power loss). Search for a corrupt “StudentName.GDS” and “StudentName.GDL” file which may have a file size of 0 KB. If there is no data back up it is necessary to log in as a new student. Previously completed lessons are still in the GDPData folder; however, GDP will not recognize the completed work.

I just completed a lesson and received a pop up stating “An unknown error has occurred in GDP and the program must close.” What does this mean?

Every lesson you complete writes to a detailed report (.drp file) in your GDPData folder. If the file becomes corrupt you may receive such an error. You should determine the file which corresponds to the lesson you were working on when the error occurred and delete it. The file name should be similar to “lastname_firstnameXXXXX.drp” where the X’s represent the part of the book (first 2 X’s) and lesson number (last 3 X’s).
