Acupuncture in Integrative Oncology ????????????????????????????????????????????????? With Dr. Rose Li, MD (Taiwan), L.Ac. MPHDr. Li earned her MD in 1990 from Taipei Medical University in Taiwan. She has practiced western medicine as a pediatrician and internal medicine physician in Taiwan for many years. She received MAOM degree from South Baylo University and has worked as a full-time professor and clinic supervisor in the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine of Southern California University of Health Sciences for 10 years. Dr. Li has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals and participated several clinical and educational research as a clinician, co-investigator and principal investigator. Currently, She is one of faculty members of Doctoral program of Emperor college, school of Traditional Oriental Medicine, and a sole practitioner in California.Dr. Li has integrated her knowledge and training in both Western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (TCM/A) to provide holistic approaches to her patient care. She emphasizes the integration of Western and Oriental medicine, embraces evidence-based knowledge and practice to help patients to achieve wellness?through her academic, research and clinical experience.Dr. Li will provide an overview of oncology, including the diagnosis and conventional therapy of cancers, such as, surgery, chemotherapy,?radiotherapy, and hormone therapy. Dr. Li will introduce Integrative Oncology practice guidelines developed and endorsed by Society of Integrative Oncology. She will emphasize evidence-based comprehensive integrative healthcare to improve the lives of people affected by cancer and conventional anti-cancer treatment, such as, fatigue, psychological stress/anxiety, cancer- related pain, nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, loss of appetite, opioid-induced constipation, digestive dysfunction, pruritus, and other treatment reactions (neutropenia and xerostomia). She will?explain the role that acupuncture and Chinese medicine can play in the interdisciplinary collaboration in cancer care.?Herbal/supplement and drug interactions, which cancer patients may encounter, will also be covered. By taking this class, practitioners will be able to deepen the knowledge of conventional cancer therapy, as well as Acupuncture and Chinese medicine approach as a safe adjunctive complementary therapy to cancer patients.?
