Requirements:
1. Using your textbook (Chapters 2) research the individual or event that you have selected. You will need to write a citation for your textbook in correct MLA format – utilize the source info. section of this handout to help you.
2. After you have a general idea about the person or event – use online research sources to learn more about the individual or event.
a. You will need to have at least 2 reliable online sources for your project.
i. is not an acceptable resource for this project
ii. All sources will need to be written in MLA format – utilize the source info. section of this hand out to help you during the research process.
b. You will eventually be creating a poster or iPad project about this individual or event, so you will need to find 1 or 2 pictures. You need to cite your picture sources in MLA format utilize the source info. section of this handout to help you.
3. After you have found all of the research sources and completed the source info. section– you will need to utilize that research to complete the following steps. Remember that plagiarism is a form of cheating and you will receive an automatic zero on this assignment. Make sure the following paragraphs are in your own words, which are supported by the research you found.
a. Create a hand written rough draft on a sheet of notebook paper and complete your source info. section– MUST BE IN YOUR OWN WORDS!! This part of your project is due by
the beginning of class on: Tuesday 12/17/13 - This part of the project is worth 20 points
i. Write 1 complete paragraph (topic sentence, at least 3 supporting sentences, and conclusion sentence) to answer each question below about your selected topic:
1. What is important background information to know in order to understand your topic?
2. How does your topic relate to the American Revolution?
3. Why is your topic historically important?
ii. I suggest that you read through your sources and highlight information that helps you to reach the above goals – before you begin writing.
iii. You also need to have the information within the source info. section of this hand-out completed and turned with your rough draft.
4. After your paragraph and citations rough drafts have been approved by Ms. Skalicky you may begin creating a poster or iPad project on your individual or event that includes:
a. Clear title and sub-titles
b. The information contained within your paragraphs that answer the above questions asked. (Can use bullets of most important info.)
c. The pictures that you found.
d. 3 interesting facts that you learned during this research project about the individual or event that you researched.
i. Remember that neatness, color, and creativity will be taken into consideration.
ii. You will make a short presentation to the class about your selected topic. Review the presentation rubric provided. Remember this is what I use to grade your project!! Presentations begin in class on Wednesday 12/18/13
e. All sources in correct MLA format. Use the information you completed in the source info. section and use to help you convert this information into organized citations. Any project turned in without all citations complete will be graded a zero.
