Location: Conestoga College – Remote/Virtual

Reporting to: Student Engagement Coordinator

Time Requirement: Up to 15 hours per month

Pay: $225 monthly honorarium

Position Overview

ISAC Members sit on the International Student Advisory Council to attend meetings and provide valuable feedback on the experience of international students. CSI then collects this feedback to improve the international student experience and support the success of all students at Conestoga College.

In carrying out the duties of this position, a great deal of autonomy is exercised with final overview by the Student Engagement Coordinator. It is also important that the ISAC Member works extremely closely with the Student Engagement Coordinator to ensure that they are up to date on the basic overall operations of ISAC. In all activities, it is crucial that the ISAC Member recognizes that service to students is a top priority.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Attend at least one full ISAC meeting per month, actively participating throughout the call either through the chat function of the meeting or using audio/visual (muting when not actively speaking)

• Provide a written synopsis following each meeting on what was discussed, and provide feedback/suggestions for future meeting topics

• Be respectful to all other meeting participants including peers, staff, and guest speakers

• Review meeting minutes and agenda prior to each meeting

• Participate in the leadership and career development workshops that are provided by the Student Engagement Coordinator once per month

• Assist in the collection of student feedback from the Conestoga student community

• Report collected feedback to the Student Engagement Coordinator and committee on a monthly basis or as required

Other General Duties

• Work in accordance with corporate by-laws, policies, and procedures, particularly to the CSI Mission Statement

• Adhere strictly to health & safety laws, policies, and procedures

• Maintain confidentiality for business practices

• Work in an organized manner where detail, accuracy and confidentiality are critical

• Mandatory attendance at CSI related training days

• Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

Physical Demands

This position may spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain. Lifting of supplies and materials up to 30lbs is required from time to time.

Environmental Conditions

This position performs work from a suitable location of their choosing and may be faced with frequent interruptions and meetings with others on a regular basis. Travel between campuses and performance of work from home is required as needed. Some work may be required after office hours and on weekends.

Sensory Demands

This position requires long periods of intense concentration. The incumbent may also spend long hours on the computer which requires visual focus, attention to detail, and high levels of accuracy.

Mental Demands

This position is expected to manage and meet multiple competing deadlines, which can cause significant stress. The incumbent also deals with a wide variety of people on various issues.

Qualifications

• Enrolment at Conestoga College as a full-time international student

• Availability to attend all meetings that do not conflict with your academic schedules

• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities

• Consistent and reliable access to a stable internet connection

Student Eligibility

 

All students in this position must:

• Be in a full-time degree, diploma or certificate program that has been approved for funding by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU)

• Maintain a full-time course load. Part-time studies may be allowed for students who are registered with Accessibility Services and require a reduced load

• Have a valid Social Insurance Number

International Students Must:

• Hold a valid Canadian study permit that allows on-campus employment

• Adhere to all requirements stated on their study permit

• Adhere to all Canadian student visa requirements
