The role holder will need to establish good relationships with relevant external stakeholders such as agents and school counsellors, as well as building excellent internal relationships. Key Responsibilities This document is not designed to be a list of all tasks undertaken but an outline record of the main responsibilities (5 to 8 maximum) Develop and implement international student recruitment plans, with a particular focus on growing applications and enrolments from UK-based international students. Represent Surrey in recruitment contexts, often as the sole representative of the University, providing advice to prospective students, school counsellors, recruitment agents and other stakeholders in regard to admissionsRepresent the international recruitment team at internal and external meetings and conferences, as required. Provide advice on international recruitment market trends and opportunities to colleagues in the international recruitment team and to staff in other departments such as Faculties, Admissions and Student anise events in the UK and overseas including applicant/offer holder sessions, campus visits, and events at schools in the UK or overseas. Support on specific projects as directed by the Head of International Student Recruitment. Examples of projects may include: co-ordination of calling campaigns to applicants; leading on digital media for a specified region; reporting on students for overseas sponsors; and co-ordinating the issuing of agents contracts.N.B. It provides an overview of what is expected from the post holder in the day-to-day operation of the role.Planning and Organising The post holder will be need to work with high levels of organisation as they will be expected to meet deadlines and manage their time effectively often without close supervision and whilst travelling extensively in the UK and occasionally overseas.The organisation of events such as campus visits by international schools will require good planning skills, especially at busy times of yearProblem Solving and Decision Making The post holder will be expected to work within established procedures and also use to their initiative and judgement to address complicated issues. They will make recommendations on recruitment plans and market trends.When off campus on university business, the post holder will work largely autonomously and without close line management supervision and must use their discretion, experience and judgement to deal with situations at the University and when representing the University as they arise.Continuous Improvement. The post holder will be expected to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for changes to activities and policiesThe post holder is expected to build upon and improve their specialist knowledge of the different markets that they travel to within the specified region. The post holder should use an analytical and creative approach to ensure that Surrey’s performance is in line with our competitor group.Accountability The post holder is responsible for delivering on agreed target numbers across a number of countries within their specified regionDimensions of the role The post holder will work with a network of agents in the UK and other countries.At Level 3, the post holder will not have direct budget management responsibility but will be expected to support the Deputy Head(s) and Head in decision-making on budget issues. Supplementary Information In normal circumstances, the role holder would be expected to be away from the University for recruitment purposes for 10 to 14 weeks a year. This travel will normally, but not solely, be in the region that the post focuses on. There are 13 staff in the team.
