JOB GOALS
To create a flexible pre-kindergarten program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal
growth in all developmental domains; to motivate pupils to develop speech abilities and achieve growth in all developmental domains. Develop and continually improve the academic and social-emotional skills and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program, in accordance with each pupil’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP); to build strong ties between home and school; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1 Provides learning experiences in language arts, physical education, art, music, health, and other subject
matter suited to the needs of pupil’s IEP, utilizing suggestions in district curriculum publications.
2. Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of pupils with wide
range of cognitive, physical, and emotional levels of development.
3. Develops in each pupil an awareness of his worth as an individual and his role in his family and
community. Encourages pupils to express themselves creatively in art, music, and dramatic play. Provide opportunities for growth and development of social-emotional skills.
4. Provides individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs of pupils in
communication skills, health habits, physical skills, and development of satisfactory self-concepts.
5, Enriches educational program through study trips to community resources such as museums, parks,
etc., and through classroom visits by resource persons form the school and community. Shares and
interprets these experiences with pupils and parents.
6. Plans and coordinates the work of aides, assistants, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on
field trips in order to obtain the maximum benefit from their efforts.
7. Develops activities for parents which promote parent participation and involvement in education
activities provided for their children.
8. Communicates regularly with parents by means of parent meetings, home visits, and individual parent
conferences. Interprets school program to parents in order to strengthen parental understanding of the
individual pupil’s needs and the school’s role in the individual pupil’s life
9. Provides appropriate climate to establish and reinforce acceptable pupil behavior, attitudes, and social
skills.
10. Cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health,
attitude, and learning problems.
11. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest
centers, and exhibits of pupils’ work.
12. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and
self-selected professional growth activities.
13. Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, instructional supplies, and food.
14. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs as required.
15. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
16. Uses data to develop and implement Instructionally Appropriate Individual Education Plans.
17. Collaborates with families and TEIS to plan and coordinate appropriate educational services.
18. Supervises and assist in evaluating classroom instructional assistant staff.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job may require lifting of object that exceed 10 lbs. with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects
weighting up to — lbs. Other physical demands that may be required.

Normal working environment.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Ten, eleven, or twelve month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on
Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
